The Braintree Buzz
Principal's Update
If you can believe it, we made it to the end of 2022 and we are through the darkest days of the year. I had the opportunity to read "The Longest Night" with preschoolers on the solstice, and it is a comfort to know that the simple chickadee will call back the sun and spring is on the way.
One of the week's highlight was the 4/5/6 holiday skits. The program was hilarious and well executed by Ms. J and her students. Students were prepared, engaged, and looked like they were having a blast. K-3 students were excellent audience members and loved singing along.
I hope you and your families have a restful, joyous winter break! We will see everyone back on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Preschool Solstice Event
Preschool families visited Braintree this week to celebrate the Winter Solstice. Teacher Harriet led the children, excuse me, the bears, in a chant, shared photography from the students, and then everyone decorated ornaments and candleholders.
Is there anything on my face?

STEM
For the past few weeks, Mr. Green worked with kindergarten, first, and second grades to learn about the different adaptations birds have that suit them to their environments. Then, students planned and created masks with a particular environment in mind. At Friday's school-wide assembly, students showed off their masks and some presented their design process.
Our library has a new pin maker! Mx. Kate helped students created pins this week using original art work and recycled books.
