We are almost starting a brand new school year! I hope your summer has been filled with sunshine, laughter, adventure, and special moments with those you love. Whether your family enjoyed exciting vacations, visits to playgrounds, quiet afternoons at home, or simply time together, I hope you had the opportunity to rest, recharge, and make wonderful memories.

As August arrives, the staff here at Cold Spring are busy preparing our classrooms and hallways for the return of our youngest learners. Every classroom is being thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and create a welcoming environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn.

Thank you for trusting us with your greatest treasures each day. It is truly a privilege to partner with your family during these important early years. Here's to an incredible year of choosing to grow, soaring with courage, and transforming our students- because together we are stronger and ready for tomorrow.

With joy,

Kristen

Arrival and Dismissal

The school day starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:15pm. We begin our pick-up procedures at 3:00pm at the east exit door, to the left of the main entrance. If picking up your child, please bring government issued photo identification for safety purposes. Please park in the parking lot, or along/ in the grass if parking is full. Avoid parking in or pulling through the bus lane, as that is where our buses load and unload. Please take note that if you pass a bus that is stopped with lights flashing, you will get a ticket sent to you in the mail from New York State, even if it's in the bus lane.

If there is an early dismissal, students will go home as stated on their transportation information. Any questions, please reach out.

First Day of School

School starts September 8th for our Kindergarten and 1st grade students. Our Pre-k students will have an orientation on the 8th and will start their first full day on Wednesday, September 9th. The schedule for orientation will be sent home with teacher assignments. For those who like planning in advance, the Pre-k Orientation will be about an hour, starting at 9:30 am. Please bring your government issued identification to enter the building.

Food Services

Many of your questions can be answered here: https://www.ppcsd.org/departments/food-services. We are excited to share that beginning on the first day of school, breakfast and lunch will be provided at no cost to all students in all schools. If you'd like your child to purchase snacks at school, you can load money onto their account by setting it up here.

Don't forget that our kitchen offers birthday treats for purchase. We do ask that birthday treats (if brought from home) be commercially prepared and packaged due to safety and health concerns. Thank you!

Open House

Cold Spring ELC will be hosting our annual Open House on September 10th at 6:00 pm. This is a time to meet your child’s teachers, visit their classrooms, and learn about what happens inside those classrooms every day. This is also an opportunity to forge a collaborative partnership with your child’s teachers. You will start with a Coffee and Tea Mixer to mingle with the Specials Teachers from 6:00-6:30 pm, where you will also "chalk the walk" to write a message for your child to see the following morning. Then you will make your way to your child's classroom from 6:30-7:00pm. For our families that have more than one child in our building, you can make your way to your other child's classroom for a visit from 7:00-7:15pm. We look forward to seeing you there!
