Dr. Anthony's BEAR-y Helpful Tip of the Week
Making math FUN can prove to be challenging! BUT, Math is EVERYWHERE, and helping your child build strong math skills doesn't have to mean extra worksheets or homework! Everyday activities are great opportunities to build number sense, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
π Math at the grocery store! Have your child estimate the total cost of a few items, compare prices, or figure out how much change you should receive.
π² Play games together! Board games, card games, and dice games are great ways to practice counting, addition, subtraction, and strategic thinking.
πͺ Cook up some math! Let your child help measure ingredients, double a recipe, or divide food into equal portions to practice fractions and measurement.
π§ Ask HOW, not just WHAT! When your child solves a math problem, ask, βHow did you figure that out?β or βCan you show me another way?β This builds deeper mathematical understanding!
Remember, you don't have to be a math expert to help your child succeed! Talk about numbers, encourage problem-solving, and celebrate their thinking!
