Inside Eminence
Eminence R-1 Community Newsletter September 2026
A Great Start to the School Year
It is hard to believe we are already wrapping up first quarter of the 2026-2027 school year. As the temperatures being to cool and fall settles into the Ozarks, there is a lot to be excited about across Eminence Schools.
The first several weeks of school have been busy and productive. Our classrooms are full of learning, fall activities and athletics are well underway, and our students continue to represent Eminence with pride both in and out of the classroom. From academic opportunities and student organizations to athletics and community events, our student have had a great start to the year.
As we finish the first quarter, Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner. This is an important opportunity for our families and teachers to connect, celebrate student successes, and identify areas where we can continue working together to support growth. Strong partnerships between our schools and families make a tremendous difference for our students.
Fall is always an exciting time in our community, and we have plenty more ahead as we move into October. I am thankful for our students, staff, families, and community members who continue to support Eminence Schools and help make our district such a special place.
We have had a strong start, and I am excited to see what the next quarter brings as we continue working together as One Team. One Mission. United for Student Success.
Elementary Update
A Great Start at Eminence Elementary!
Eminence Elementary is off to a wonderful start for the 2026-2027 school year! Students are settling into their routines, working hard in the classroom, and enjoying all the opportunities that come with a new school year. We are also incredibly thankful for our dedicated staff who work each day to make our elementary a welcoming place for students to learn and grow.
We are already halfway through the first quarter, and our progress reports went home on September 16. Our students are doing well academically, and staff are working closely with those who need additional support. Beginning-of-year iReady assessments are underway, providing valuable information about student strengths and areas for growth. Later this month, grade-level teams will begin meeting to review each student's academic progress, attendance, assessment data, and individual needs. These collaborative meetings will help ensure students receive the right support and resources throughout the year.
Attendance started the year strong at approximately 97%, and we appreciate our families' continued efforts to have students at school, healthy and ready to learn each day. Students have also enjoyed special learning opportunities outside their regular classroom instruction, including a September presentation from Show-Me Power, with additional presentations planned later this month. Counseling lessons will also begin across the elementary at the end of September.
Our students are getting involved beyond the classroom as well! For the first time, Eminence Elementary students are attending the BETA Leadership Summer on September 23, competing in Collaboration Connection, Being Better BETAs, and Project Proposal. We are excited to see our young Redwings represent Eminence!
Elementary Cross Country is also having a great fall with 13 runners participating in four meets this season. Four Redwings brought home medals from their first meet at Peck Ranch! Our junior high athletes are also working hard, with volleyball continuing to make progress and the junior high basketball team starting the season undefeated at 2-0.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting fall at Eminence Elementary. Mark your calendars for the return of our Elementary Fall Festival on October 9, followed by Parent-Teacher Conferences the week of October 12 - 15.
We are proud of the start of our students and staff have made and look forward to everything ahead this school year. One Team. One Mission. United for Student Success.

High School Update
EHS Off to a Strong Start
Eminence High School is off to a great start for the 2026-2027 school year! Enrollment currently stands at 117 students in grades 7 - 12, and our students and staff have settled into the new year with positive momentum.
Attendance continues to be an important focus at EHS. On September 11, students celebrated our first Friday attendance incentive of the year with cheeseburger sliders and prize drawings. An incredible 115 out of 117 students were in attendance that day! Students who met the fourth-quarter attendance expectations last school year were also recognized with a cash incentive for their commitment to being at school and ready to learn.
Academically, students completed beginning-of-the-year assessments during the second week of school. Middle school students participated in iReady assessments, while high school students completed Progress Learning assessments. Staff used this information during beginning of the year RTI meetings to identify student needs and plan appropriate instruction and interventions. RHS also currently has 20 students participating in dual enrollment opportunities, providing students with the chance to earn college credit while still in high school.
Student involvement is already taking off as well. Student Council is up and running and is being encouraged to serve as a strong student voice by developing ideas that can positively impact the culture and environment at EHS. On September 9, Howell-Oregon Electric Cooperative visited and provided presentations to our middle school students. EHS also commemorated September 11 with moments of silence throughout the morning corresponding with the events on that day in 2001.
Fall athletics are in full swing, with our Redwings representing EHS in volleyball, baseball, junior high basketball and cheer, and cross country. Our high school cross country runners continue to perform especially well, with all three consistently placing among the top 25 in their meets.
We are proud of the way our students and staff have started off the year and look forward to building on this momentum throughout the fall. It is shaping up to be another great year at EHS.
