Dear District 67 Families:
Earlier this school year, we invited school community members to participate in a District 67 Technology Working Group to foster meaningful discussion and exploration about the role of technology in K-8 education. That group met for the first time in November, examining new ways to help parents and caregivers better manage the use of district-provided technology equipment at home.
Piloting a New Tool
With this in mind, we are excited to share that we are launching a pilot of Securly Parent, a system designed to give parents and caregivers oversight and control over their child’s iPad usage outside school hours. This platform will allow you to easily monitor and set boundaries out of school for your child’s online activities, supporting a healthier, more focused approach to technology that aligns with each family’s individual goals and values. Whether it’s limiting access to specific sites or setting device “downtimes,” Securly Parent provides a range of tools to support a balanced, secure digital environment in your home.
Seeking Volunteers
To ensure that this new system meets the needs of district families, we are looking for approximately 30 volunteers who are willing to use Securly Parent before we roll it out more broadly. By volunteering, you’ll have the opportunity to offer valuable feedback on the platform’s features, user-friendliness, and overall effectiveness. Your insights will help us refine the system so that it best serves our District 67 families.
If you would like to participate in this pilot program, please add your name and contact information to the sign-up list here. Please note that contingent upon the response, not all volunteers may not be able to participate in this initial phase. We anticipate the pilot will last a few weeks, during which time we’ll contact pilot participants to gather their impressions and suggestions.
Working Together
We value our community's involvement as the role of technology in education evolves. By working hand in hand, we can tailor our district’s technology solutions to better meet the unique needs of each student and family. Thank you for considering participation in this pilot!
Sincerely,
Jordan Salus
Chief Technology Officer
