Dear Wolman Families,

It has been a short but engaging week at Wolman Elementary, filled with lots of learning and great moments with our Explorers! We hope all of our families enjoyed the extended Labor Day weekend and had an opportunity to relax and spend time together.

We officially wrapped up our campus Read-A-Thon, and it was a huge success! Our Explorers logged an incredible number of reading minutes while also raising funds to support our school. We are so proud of their enthusiasm for reading and grateful to all of our families and community members who participated and supported this important event. Thank you for helping us continue to foster a love of reading among our Explorers! The Prize Store is open now through September 18th so please help your child cash in his/her Rat Bucks!

It has also been wonderful to welcome lunch visitors back to campus! We know how special it is for our students to have a parent join them for lunch, and we love seeing these special moments. As a friendly reminder, parents who wish to take a photo during lunch should please ensure that the photo includes only their child, with no other students visible in the background. Thank you for helping us protect the privacy of all of our students and for supporting district guidelines regarding photos on campus.

There is lots of important information included below from our district and Wolman PTA, along with details about upcoming campus events such as our Curriculum Night (see below for information). If you have a Gmail address on file and have been having difficulty getting emails from the school and/or Katy ISD, please read the information below so that you can access important information from your child's teacher, our school, and/or the district.

If your Gmail is blocking emails from Katy ISD, please do use the following steps (see information below the screenshot as well):

To bypass this block, please follow the instructions below in your Gmail account settings.

• Open Gmail in a web browser.
• Click the Gear Icon (Settings) in the top right, then select See all settings.
• Navigate to the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
• Click Create a new filter.
• In the From field, type the domain of your school district (e.g., @katyisd.org) to cover all staff emails.

• Click Create filter.
• Check the box Never send it to Spam.
• Click Create filter to save

Per Texas Education Code Sec 37.082, students are prohibited from using a personal communication device while on school property during the school day. Personal communication devices must be stored in the student's backpack as the designated storage method.

"Personal communication device" means a telephone, cell phone such as a smartphone or flip phone, tablet, smartwatch, radio device, paging device or any other electronic device capable of telecommunication or digital communication. Please refer to the Katy ISD visual below for more information regarding personal communication devices.

Lunch is a fun, social time of day for our Explorers! Any parents who wish you attend lunch may use the link above to sign up. As a reminder only parents/guardians, non-school aged children and immediate family listed on the lunch visitor permission form are able to visit for lunch. Due to limited space, visitors are limited to 2 visitors per student (non school age children are counted as visitors). Each parent must sign up for their own seat and a separate seat for any non school age siblings.

Here are some reminders for when lunch visits begin...PLEASE REMEMBER when signing up to include your child's name and teacher in the comments. All visitors must show a physical, hard copy government issued ID (driver's license or passport) when you arrive for lunch. We ask that each student be limited to having a lunch visit one day per week to allow all Explorers the opportunity to have a lunch visit. If you are not able to come to lunch after you signed up, please remove your name from the list. Also, please be aware that a few minutes prior to your child's lunch time ending, the monitors will direct your child to join his/her class; this helps with making our cafeteria exit procedures run more smoothly. The following steps will guide you in signing up for lunch times to visit your child and with providing lunch visitor permission. Please call 281 234 1700 with any questions. Thank you!

We want to see our Explorers each and every day at school in order to provide them an opportunity to learn and grow as much as possible! However, if your Explorer is unable to attend school to being ill or another unforeseen circumstance, please use the link below to report his/her absence.

The Katy Independent School District is encouraging students, parents, and community members to anonymously report tips or information about potential safety threats through Katy ISD's Speak Up app. SpeakUP is an anonymous reporting system that enables Katy ISD students, parents, and community members to anonymously submit safety and well-being tips to help prevent school-related incidents that could cause harm to others. Sub Blitz Sessions will be held throughout the school year to hire and welcome new substitutes. Invitations will be emailed to applicants with completed online applications, approximately one month in advance of the event. Please make sure the email address on your application is accurate.

Requirements to Substitute

• Substitute Teacher: Minimum of 60 semester/quarter college hours completed

• Foreign Transcripts: Must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency

• Paraprofessional (Clerical/Aide): GED or High School Diploma required

• Additional:

• Proof of right to work in the U.S.

• Criminal history check

• Interview and skills test

This email will be sent approximately one month in advance of the Sub Blitz date. We are in need of volunteers to help getting chrome books logged into for our kiddos to complete their middle of year MAP testing.

Our 4th Grade Discover Learning is coming up on Friday, September 25th, and we would love to have some parent volunteers join us!

The students will be learning about Native American life on the Texas Plains through several hands-on activities. It should be a really fun experience for the kids and a great way to bring what they’re learning in class to life.

This event will be held on Friday, October 16th, 2025 at Wolman Elementary Teacher Parking Lot and Gymnasium. The festivities are from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM.
