Current Events
Dear Families,
Spring energy abounds!
Thank you! In honor of Staff Appreciation Week, we have loved discovering the gifts and treats each morning that families have prepared for us. The posters, cards and decorations are lovely. We do indeed feel appreciated! Thanks to Alison and Erin for organizing all of this.
KEEC: The 5th graders are getting ready for camping at Keywaydin Environmental Education Center (KEEC) all of next week along with Cornwall, Bridport and Shoreham 5th graders. Huge thanks to Kat, Jackson, and Mr. B for putting in many extra hours to make this work.
Seasonal gear: My usual request, please be sure your child has full raingear - rainboots, hat, jacket and pants. Of course, they don’t need all of the gear for every recess, but it's really helpful to have it on hand. Wednesday’s rain was a soaker and totally fun to be out in - with full raingear!
Indoor footwear: Please be sure your child has sneakers at school. This is particularly important for P.E. class - Tuesdays and Fridays, but having them at school everyday makes it possible for teachers to plan outdoor activities and games. Crocs and flipflops, albeit stylish and seasonal, are not safe for running. Thanks.
Reminder from Silas Gorton: This year I studied hunger for a project and I was surprised by how many people are facing hunger worldwide, so I decided to host a food drive at Weybridge Elementary School, April 27th-May 18th. Please bring the items to the Weybridge Elementary School (WES) front door. In the fall we already donated 500 pounds to HOPE. Summers coming up, let's collect 1000! - Silas Gorton
Lunch help: We need three volunteers next week: Monday, Tuesday and Friday. Please sign up directly on the May/June lunch calendar or email me if you are available one of these days or for any days in the future. Thanks so much. We’ll need extra lunch volunteers May 22 for the Memorial Day Picnic at the Fire Station and for the Branbury Picnic (June 5/rain date June 8).
Dates to put on your calendar:
Wednesday, June 3, 11:20 - Graduation Luncheon Picnic
Wednesday, June 3, 1:30 - Shakespeare Dress Rehearsal
Thursday, June 4, 6:30 - Shakespeare Performance- everyone’s invited!
Friday, June 5 - Branbury picnic
Monday, June 8 - Rain date for Branbury Picnic
Tuesday, June 9, 6:30 - Graduation - all invited!
Wednesday, June 10 - 5th grade to Petra Cliffs
Thursday, June 11 - Last day of school and famous talent show
Please email me cjohnston@acsdvt.org or call if you have any questions (802-545-3301).
Best, Christina
