Parsons Pirate Update
November 3rd, 2025
Principal's Message
Dear Parsons Families,
Thank you to everyone who came to Trunk or Treat and our Halloween Parade. A big thank you to Gibraltar PD for always making sure we are safe on the parade route.
This next week will get us a little off of our routine. There is no school on Tuesday due to Election Day and professional development for teachers. Thursday and Friday are both half days for Parent Teacher Conferences. We hope to have 100% participation. If you can't make those dates, please reach out to your child's teacher for another time to discuss their progress.
Sincerely,
Sarah Aherne
Early Morning Drop Off
Please be reminded that students should not be left unattended before school. We love to see students biking to school and playing on the playground but there must be parent supervision if they are arriving earlier than 8:33 am.
Pirates Inventors Club
Program Highlights:
During Inventors Club the students will work in teams of 2-4 students to (1) identify a
problem, (2) brainstorm solutions to the problem, (3) refine their solutions and build a prototype,
(4) create a video pitch, (5) and give a live pitch (including Q&A) to a group of judges during a
regional competition currently scheduled for Saturday, March 21st at Wayne State University.
Students that advance in the regional competition will receive an invitation to the State Finals at
the Henry Ford Museum on April 25th .
This multi-faceted program is designed to challenge and inspire. Students will build skills
in problem-solving, engineering, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and public speaking.
Who Can Participate: 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who complete the permission slip by November 5th, 2025. A lottery may take place if we have large interest.
Led By:
Inventors club will be led by both Mrs. Buscemi and Dan Chojnowski. Mrs. Buscemi is
an educator in the District and Mr. Dan is a local patent attorney that has been mentoring teams
competing in the Invention Convention for the last 5 years. Additional volunteers are also
welcome.
Meeting Details:
The club will begin on Thursday, November 6 and continue to meet every Thursday until
at least March 16. Meetings will be held in the gymnasium immediately after dismissal, with
parent pick-up promptly at 4:45 PM.

All doors are locked during the school day. If you come to school, you will be buzzed into the foyer area. You will be asked to show identification before your child is released. All visitors/volunteers in the building must report and sign in at the office. Visitors must wear a badge in the school building. All volunteers in the classroom and for field trips must have a background check on file each year. Parsons Spirit Wear
Last year we changed to a new company that allows families to order Parsons and Marauder spirt wear all year long! We have some new designs this year. Check them out at this link.
Student Medication and Medication Plans
If your child needs medication to be administered at school or requires a medical plan, please call the school secretary, Ms. Brittany, at 734-379-7050, and set up an appointment ASAP. In your call with her, she will reference paperwork that needs to be completed by your child’s physician. Parson's nursing services documents can be found AT THIS LINK.
Elementary School Handbook
Our school code of conduct serves as a foundational agreement and set of expectations for the entire school community, outlining acceptable and unacceptable behaviors, promoting a positive learning environment, and ensuring safety by defining the rights and responsibilities of students, parents, and staff. The District Elementary Code of Conduct can be found at this link. I have also attached the document below.
