The Weekly Words
March 8, 2026
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, honors the achievements and contributions of women around the world. It is a time to recognize the progress made toward gender equality while also acknowledging the work that still remains. The day encourages communities to celebrate women’s leadership, resilience, and impact across every field of society.
Quick Check-In
Team,
We all know that teaching is much more than lesson planning and grading papers; you are making an impact on our students that will last a lifetime! Continue to push for positivity. We challenge you to please reflect on at least one student who really needs us as the school year begins to come to a close. As the weather continues to get more beautiful outside, our students are going to be tempted to lose focus.
They need us now more than ever to finish the school year strong. Make a commitment to spending extra time with at least 1 student this week who needs a quick check-in and some encouraging words. A 5 minute conversation can really make a difference in our students’ lives.
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.
Principal
From the Assistant Principal's Desk
Hi Team,
As we begin Week 28, I want to acknowledge that last week was especially challenging, as we experienced the highest number of referrals in a single week this year along with several serious incidents involving fights, inappropriate touching, and students leaving supervised areas. Thank you for continuing to respond to students with professionalism, patience, and care during moments that can feel stressful and disruptive to the learning environment. As we move closer to spring break, this time of year can bring increased energy from students, so continuing to emphasize positive reinforcement, reteaching expectations, and using supports when needed will help keep things steady.
Last week at Noble, 22 referrals were submitted, 7 lunchtime pink slips were issued, and at least 10 support calls were made, while staff also awarded hundreds of Dojo points recognizing students for being Kind, Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and On Time. Please continue to communicate with families when referrals occur and ensure those contacts are logged in PLP, as these conversations often help reset expectations and build stronger partnerships. I also want to recognize the 3rd grade team for organizing a spring break behavior incentive aligned to the Noble Big 4, and I encourage other grade levels to consider using TBT time to develop similar short-term incentives if helpful. Our building attendance continues to improve, with our chronic absenteeism rate decreasing from 24.1% to 22.6%, and your caring calls and family outreach are making a difference. Thank you for the consistent effort you bring each day to support students, maintain safe learning environments, and celebrate the positive moments happening throughout Noble.

Your voice matters, let’s lift each other up and keep moving forward together!
Shout-Outs!
A special shout-out to Mrs. Nalepa for earning the Noble Unity Chain from Mr. Rozsa, congratulations to Mrs. DiDona for Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Ohlinger for Staff Member of the Month, and Ms. Oberfield for earning February Tiger Team Member of the Month; thank you all for your dedication and excellence!
We’re excited to spotlight the great work happening with Zearn in Ms. Larson’s classroom! Ms. Larson's students don’t just use Zearn, they look forward to it. The excitement is tangible as they log in, eager to tackle new lessons and celebrate their growth. With a goal of completing three lessons each week, students take ownership of their progress by physically moving their individual “rainbow” to track their accomplishments. This simple but powerful visual system builds motivation, reinforces goal-setting habits, and makes learning visible.
4th Grade Team – A huge shout-out for an outstanding Black History Month Showcase! Fourth graders researched influential figures in Black history and presented on their lives and impact. Special recognition to Jeremiah Gates, who did an amazing job presenting on Kendrick Lamar. The pride and excitement on his face after presenting truly captured the power of student voice and hard work!
Ms. Hubbard – It was wonderful to visit first grade and see strong Into Math instruction in action. Kensley was excited to share her work, and those blue stars on student papers were great evidence of Ms. Hubbard affirmatively checking student work, a strategy highlighted during Data Day. Excellent implementation and attention to student progress!
Mr. Burkle – Thank you for leading a highly engaging STEM lesson that got students thinking like scientists. Having students place their heads on their desks to hear the vibrations from a mallet striking the desk was a creative and memorable way to explore sound and vibration!
Ms. Woofter – Observing your calm and orderly transition to lunch and recess was impressive. In just a few minutes, you demonstrated twelve explicit classroom management techniques seamlessly. You make it look effortless, but your expertise and intentionality truly reflect masterful classroom management!
Ms. Doyle – First graders were fully engaged during your interactive STEM lesson on motion. Your small group work allowed students to experiment, explore, and think critically about how things move—great hands-on learning in action!
Ms. Gaines – Thank you for bringing the joy and energy to the day! The Conga line brain break after co-teaching math was a wonderful way to keep students energized and connected while supporting a positive classroom culture!
Ms. Salvatore – Your commitment to placing the cognitive lift on students during small group instruction was inspiring to see. Questions like “How do you know that?”, “What tells us that?”, and “How did you get that answer?” encouraged students to explain their thinking and deepen their understanding. A special shout-out to Ma’Kayla, who did a phenomenal job articulating her reasoning!
Staff Spotlight - Mrs. Wynn
Mrs. Wynn was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was educated through the Cleveland Public Schools system. She later attended East High School and continued her education at Cuyahoga Community College, where she earned her Associate Degree. Although she has lived in different parts of the country over the years, Cleveland has always remained home and holds a special place in her heart. Mrs. Wynn enjoys many of the great things the city has to offer, including shopping, attending athletic events, and cheering on Cleveland’s teams. She is also an avid moviegoer who appreciates spending time relaxing at the theater.
Outside of her interests in the community, Mrs. Wynn values time with her loved ones and especially enjoys making memories with her grandkids and great-grandchildren. She also treasures opportunities to connect with family and friends whenever she can. Mrs. Wynn believes in enjoying life and appreciating the people and moments that make it meaningful.
