Principal's Message
Assalam Aleikum!
Dear NISL Families,
This past Thursday, February 12, we proudly hosted our In-School Science Fair, and what an incredible day it was for our students and school community!
Our cafeteria was filled with innovation, creativity, confidence, and critical thinking as students presented projects that reflected not only their knowledge of scientific concepts, but also their understanding of the scientific process and their growing public speaking skills. We are so proud of the effort, courage, and preparation our students demonstrated.
A very special thank you to the 10 judges who took time out of their busy schedules to serve our students. We are truly honored by your presence and support.
Five of our judges were NISL alumni who are now either completing college or have already graduated. SubhanAllah, it was incredibly meaningful to see them standing in the same space where they once presented their own projects. They shared powerful insights with our staff about how the Science Fair contributed to their critical thinking skills, confidence, and academic growth. Several expressed how much the experience shaped their path and generously offered to return in the future to hold workshops and provide additional support to our students.
Many of our judges also offered to mentor middle school students who will be advancing to the Louisville Regional Science and Engineering Fair (LRSEF), which will take place on March 7 at the University of Louisville.
If any parent has time during the school day or is willing to meet with students after school to mentor them between now and March 7, we would greatly appreciate your support. Please reach out to Br. Omar Mahran at omahran@nurislamicschool.org.
Science Fair awards are currently being personalized with each winner’s name and will be ready next week. Our awards ceremony will be held on Monday, February 23rd at 2pm, after Dhuhr prayer in the masjid. Parents are welcome to attend! We look forward to recognizing our students’ hard work and celebrating their accomplishments together, inshaAllah.
May Allah reward everyone who contributed to making this event a success. Opportunities like this strengthen not only academic excellence but also confidence, leadership, and perseverance in our students.
We look forward to cheering on our students at LRSEF!
Sincerely,
Aisha Blagaia
