As we head into April, there are several important updates and opportunities we want to be sure our Kellogg School District families and patrons are aware of. In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find key upcoming dates, information about the upcoming supplemental levy election, and details about our new levy information website designed to help keep our community informed. We’re also sharing the approved 2026–2027 school calendar and inviting parents and community members to submit questions about the levy through the KSD Patron Survey.

On March 2, the KSD School Board trustees approved a resolution calling for a supplemental levy election to be held on Tuesday, May 19th. On March 18, the board set the amount of the levy to $3,524,350 which is the same amount that was submitted to voters in the November 2025 election. The board determined that the increase in the levy amount was necessary to cover rising costs and prepare proactively for potential funding reductions from the State of Idaho.

This is a replacement for the levy that is currently in place, expiring June 30, 2026 and is fundamental for maintaining as many current programs and positions as possible.

There will be a several community information sessions coming up to specifically discuss the levy. These opportunities are great times to ask questions and get the facts. We will be announcing these dates in the coming weeks and will send out information to families and the community.

The Kellogg School District has launched a new information webpage to provide patrons and community members with clear, accessible details about the upcoming replacement supplemental levy election. The site is available at: Kellogg School District

The webpage includes an overview of the proposed two-year supplemental levy, which will appear on the May 19, 2026 ballot, along with detailed information about how levy funds support student opportunities, educational programs, and the safe daily operation of district schools. Visitors can review examples of programs funded through levy dollars, such as classroom staff, transportation, instructional materials, and full-day kindergarten, as well as updates about voting locations, timelines, and upcoming public information opportunities.

The site also highlights how the district continues to maximize grants, donations, and other non-levy funding sources for facility improvements and special projects, helping ensure local levy dollars are used carefully and responsibly.

District leaders say the new webpage reflects their ongoing commitment to transparent communication and keeping patrons informed as the community prepares for the upcoming election.

Community members are encouraged to visit the webpage regularly, as additional materials, including the answers to frequently asked questions, will be added as they become available.

April marks the start of ISAT testing for many of our students across the Kellogg School District. These assessments help measure student progress in key academic areas and provide valuable information that supports instruction, identifies strengths, and guides future learning opportunities across our schools.

Families play an important role in helping students feel confident and prepared on testing days. Simple steps at home can make a big differenceβ€”making sure students get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, arrive at school on time, and feel encouraged to do their best all support student success. A positive attitude toward testing helps students approach the experience with confidence and focus.

Thank you for partnering with us to support our students during this important time. Your encouragement makes a difference! πŸ“šβœ¨
