A Message from the Principal
Casey Families,
We are excited to share that Casey’s Fall Fest will take place on Wednesday, October 28th from 6:30-8:30pm! Together with our PTSA, families are invited to enjoy an evening of fun featuring mini-golf, carnival games, pumpkin painting, and more. Food trucks will also be on site for dinner and treats. We hope to see you there!
Next week, students will participate in Erin’s Law presentations facilitated in partnership with BestSelf Child Advocacy Center and our school counselors. In accordance with New York State Education Law, schools are required to provide annual, age-appropriate instruction on personal body safety and awareness. These lessons help students recognize safe and unsafe situations, set healthy boundaries, and identify trusted adults they can turn to for help. For more information please visit: https://www.nysed.gov/standards-instruction/erins-law
Sincerely,
Dr. Curella, Principal

Helpful Reminders
🚌Arrival & Dismissal Procedures🚗
Please take a moment to review and follow our arrival & dismissal procedures to ensure the safety of all students. We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing these expectations with your child and modeling safe practices. Together, we can create a safe and smooth experience for the entire Casey community, including our North HS and District Office neighbors. Please see the image below for an annotated map of the school as well as traffic patterns to follow during arrival and dismissal at Casey. (Click the image to enlarge)
Some important things to note:
- Indicated in YELLOW are the door numbers through which students enter and exit the building.
- The RED X’s around the District office indicate doors that are not used by students at any time.
- Do not park in the bus loop near Door 1 during morning arrival (8:30-9:00am) and afternoon dismissal (3:15-3:45pm).
- Please use the traffic pattern indicated in BLUE on the map and do not stop or park in these areas unless in a designated parking spot.
- Be mindful of the crosswalks indicated in GREEN and encourage your students to use them.
- Students dropped off in the back of the building will enter the building through Door 10. Students dropped off by the 5th grade lot will enter the building through Door 1. These are the only two doors open for student arrivals.
- Students may exit through any door at dismissal to meet their ride for pick up or walk home.
- Please be mindful to not block the entrances or exits to the parking lot. Other parents as well as District employees will need these areas to remain passable.
- Do not stop/park in a space that isn’t a parking spot. This will hold up the flow of traffic. Park in a designated parking spot and wait for your student to come outside to meet you.
📝Early Releases
Please remember to send in a note for early releases, late arrivals, and absences. If you are picking up your child for an early release, you will need to come into the Casey Main Entrance to sign your child out. You can also report your student's attendance by logging into WITS and clicking on the Daily Attendance line on the homepage.
🎒Dropping Off Forgotten Items📓
If you are dropping off an item for your student, please ensure the item is labeled with the student’s name. For your convenience, post-it notes are available in our lobby across from the green drop-off carts. For sanitary reasons, we ask that any clothing items or shoes be placed in a bag before dropping them off. *Please note that we do not interrupt academic classes for non-emergencies such as drop-offs (sports equipment, instruments, class materials, lunches).
🏫Visitors to Casey🪪
All District buildings, including Casey Middle School, are using the RAPTOR system to sign visitors in/out. All visitors must enter the building at the main entrance on Casey Road. Please be prepared to show government issued ID, such as a valid driver’s license, upon entering Casey. We will scan your ID and issue a visitor's badge to be worn for the duration of your visit. If you are coming to the school for any reason during morning arrivals (8:30-9:00am) or afternoon dismissal (3:15-3:45pm), please park in the 5th grade lot just north of the bus loop.
🌟After-School Clubs Start This Week!
Some of our after-school clubs are kicking off this week! If your student is participating, please take a moment to set a pickup plan with them in advance:
Check the Time: Confirm exactly what time your student's club finishes.
Pick a Spot: Decide on a specific door or location for pickup so you both know where to meet.
Planning ahead together helps ensure a quick and seamless afternoon pick-up! Thank you for your support.
⛄Casey Needs and Holiday Survey🎁
At Casey Middle School, we’re committed to supporting our students and families throughout the school year. As the colder months and holiday season approach, we want to ensure everyone in our community has what they need—whether that’s help with winter clothing, food, hygiene items, or holiday gifts.
We’ve created a quick survey so you can let us know how we can best support your family this season, or if you are in a position to give, how you might like to help support others.
Form Options:
My family needs support.
My family would like to provide support.
My family will not be participating this year in the holiday program.
Please note: All responses are completely confidential and will only be accessed by School Counselor Tim Pincoski, Social Worker Alexa Mediak, and Special Education Teacher Jamie Keller to help coordinate resources.
Because coordination takes time, we are asking families to submit their responses earlier than usual this year. Please complete the form by Tuesday, October 13th.
📸 Submit Your School Event Photos for the Casey Yearbook!
We are looking for great photos to include in this year’s Casey Yearbook! If you’ve taken photos at recent school-sponsored events, we’d love for you to share them with us.
Before submitting, please review our guidelines:
Appropriateness: Please ensure all photos are appropriate for a school publication.
Casey Students Only: Photos should feature only current Casey students, volunteers, or staff.
School Events: Photos must be taken at an official, school-sponsored event.
Submit your photos here: https://books.yearbooks.me/ca/ekd4drabcx5e4qgv9mu5fbqb9v5ekcb7b
Password: Caseypics2026!
Please note: Submitting a photo does not guarantee that it will be featured in the final yearbook, as space is limited.
Thank you for helping us capture this year's memories!
📝Final Exam Schedule
Below, you will find the end-of-year final exam schedule. Final exam dates and times are set by the District and cannot be adjusted. We appreciate your support in ensuring your child is present and ready to complete their exams as scheduled.
If your child is seriously ill and unable to attend on the day of an exam, please contact the school by 9:00 a.m. and provide a doctor's note. The documentation will be reviewed to determine if the absence can be considered legally excused.
Please note that absences for reasons such as family vacations, sporting events, or other non-medical situations are not considered legally excused absences for final exams. If a student misses a final exam without a legally excused absence, a zero must be recorded for that assessment, which will impact the student's final average.

Say Something Anonymous Reporting System
The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System program is provided at no cost by Sandy Hook Promise (SHP), a national nonprofit organization. More than 31 million people have participated in their research-based “Know the Signs” programs that includes Say Something.
This program is age-appropriate and evidence-informed. To date, the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System and other SHP prevention programs have stopped multiple school incidents (i.e. shootings), suicides, and gun threats. SS-ARS and SHP have also helped reduced bullying and cyberbullying, and provided intervention for self-harm, drug use, and more.
