Blended Learning Week 4- May 4-8, 2020
Celebrating Teachers during Teacher Appreciation Week
Teacher Appreciation Week
There are many "virtual" ideas all over the internet. We encourage you to use some of these virtual ideas to show your appreciation.
Candace Landers is also heading up a teacher drop off and will help us get any gifts to teachers. We will accept drop offs between 9 a.m. -2 p.m. on Monday, May 4th ONLY. Please do not drop off anything that will melt or can't take the heat. A box will be sitting outside the front door for drop offs.
Welcome to Week 4 of our Blended Learning Plan
We are halfway there. Keep up the good work students. We just have 3 weeks until summer vacation begins.
Monday morning begins Week 4 of our Blended Learning Plan. Remember, we are here to support you!
Lessons for PE and all "specials"
In each weekly Cub Connection between now and May 22nd, we will list the lesson plans for our PE and "Specials." Specials include art, computer, guidance, and library. Your student attends PE daily but we will only post lessons for 2-3 days. They also attend each of these specials once a week so there is only one lesson for the week for these classes.
New plans will be posted each week but the plans will remain from past weeks as well. This way, they can be done at any time between now and May 22nd.
If you have questions about these lessons, please email the teacher:

Some Special Notes for our 5th Grade Students and Parents
D.C. Trip Update-
- We are thankful that we can now say that all parents who paid for the DC Trip will receiving their money back. World Strides has offered a generous cancellation policy and we have accepted these terms.
- Parents that bought the trip insurance will get a full refund as was stated from the beginning.
- Parents who did not buy the trip insurance will also receive a refund minus the $115 trip insurance. World Strides has agreed to allow you to buy the trip insurance "after the fact" which ensures a refund.
- These funds should be returned to families 6-8 weeks from the trip date, which for us would mean around the last day of school, May 22, 2020. PARENTS DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING TO RECEIVE REFUNDS. THIS IS ALREADY IN THE WORKS.
- It has been very disappointing that this year's 5th grade did not get to experience this trip. However, I appreciate your understanding and patience as we worked to do what was right for all families.
- Please email me if you have questions jmcalister@mcssk12.org
Awards Day/5th Grade Good-bye-
We are still hoping to have some type of "Good-bye" for our 5th grade. The Central Office is discussing guidelines for events such as this and we should have information very soon.
