Class/Teacher assignments
Class assignments were sent out by mail last week, and are also accessible in the Parent Portal
A note about our class assignment process:
Our teaching team gathered to very carefully place students into classes this year. Each grade level team met and discussed student needs, group dynamics, accommodations and personalities. They collaborated with the adjacent grade levels, as well as single subject teachers, counselors, intervention teachers, and resource teachers. Together, they ensured that classes are balanced and each student has the best chance possible to succeed. We intend to continue to show this type of careful care and consideration to each and every student throughout this school year and beyond.
In order to maintain these balanced classes, teacher assignments are final.
Meet our new staff members at Grand Oaks!
Speech Therapist, Haleigh Gordian
My name is Haleigh, and I’m one of the speech therapists here at Grand Oaks. This year marks my fifth year as a speech therapist and my second year working in an elementary school. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, reading, traveling, and going for walks with my puppy.
I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and am so excited for a great school year!
PE Teacher, Madison Appleby
Hello! My name is Madison Appleby, and I’m grateful to be joining Grand Oaks as the new Physical Education teacher this year. I recently graduated from Sacramento State, where I earned my teaching credential. This is my first year as a teacher, and I’m excited to get to know all of the students, staff, and families. My favorite sport to play is Lacrosse, and I also love making art! I’m looking forward to a great school year and can’t wait to be a part of the team. Go Gators!
First Grade Teacher, Andrea Higginbotham
I'm so glad to be back at Grand Oaks with these amazing students and families. I've been with San Juan since 2024 in various long term classroom teaching assignments. I have three children in San Juan schools. This summer we started to paddle board and we had so much fun outdoors on all the amazing lakes and rivers nearby.
My background is in scholarly book publishing while living in Washington, DC for 18 years. I was meant to be a teacher, so I'm elated to have the SCOE program under my belt and be part of an amazing first grade team at Grand Oaks!
5th Grade Teacher, Lindsey Chaney
Hello everyone! My name is Lindsey Chaney and I will be in 5th grade this year. I co-taught 1st grade last year at Dyer Kelly while in the Alder program earning my credential and masters. When I’m at school I’m either teaching/ directing ballet at a studio in Loomis or sewing. Excited to be here!
Clerk, Monet Noe
My name is Monet Noe, and I am very excited to be here at Grand Oaks! I will be in the office as the new attendance clerk. I spent last year at another school within the district, so I am excited to bring my knowledge, and fun personality, to this school. I have spirit so you will sometimes see me dressed in green or in gator tennis shoes.
Outside of work I enjoy taking care of all my plants, riding scooters around town with my grandson, playing with all my animals and hanging out with friends and family.
I am really excited to meet all of you so come by and say hi!
