IMPORTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION: Things parents need to know! IMPORTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL INFORMATION: Things parents need to know!

This newsletter will be sent to your email about once per month to update you on any Trailblazer news. HOWEVER, your child will hear other all school updates/events on the announcements each day.

Your student should be your main source of information about upcoming events or "to do's!" They should be writing in their planner any "need to know" information.

Grading Policy Grading Policy

Homework, in class assignments, and other practice assignments are worth 20% of the grade.

  • These assignments are worth 3 points.

  • Late assignments can only earn a 2 out of 3.

  • Missing assignments will be coded with an M, which will "code" it as a zero percent. This will change once we regrade.

Tests, quizzes, projects, and other assessments are worth 80% of the grade.

  • These assessments can be resubmitted or retaken for more points, but only for two weeks after the initial due date or before the end of the quarter.
  • Late work is accepted until the end of a unit or the end of the quarter, whichever comes first.
  • If the assignment is on the computer, they must fill in the late work form to get it graded.
  • If the assignment is on paper, they must physically show the teacher the assignment.

Please give up to one week for teachers to update late/missing work.

Absent/Missing Work Absent/Missing Work

It is the student’s responsibility to check with their teacher(s) as to work missed during any absence.

On the day a student returns from an absence, arrangements should be made to make up

work missed. The Trailblazer teachers give students three days to turn in work after an absence. An "M" will be put in as a placeholder in Infinite Campus just to remind the student to work on it! Full credit will be given if completed during the three day cushion. The M placeholder helps remind teachers and the student that they need to complete that assignment and it will be changed accordingly once the student has turned in the assignment so DON'T FREAK OUT! 😉

Homework Calendar
This is where teachers will update their lessons for absent students or just a reminder about upcoming due dates. It is subject to change!

Schoology Schoology

https://youtu.be/BUKTfMtvcXI

Schoology serves as a “digital hub” to keep classwork organized and easily accessible. Some teachers use Schoology to post their classroom materials online or give assessments. It provides a safe forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects and for teachers to assign and collect assignments electronically.

Park Hill School District parents/guardians have access to a READ-ONLY version of their students Schoology accounts so they can keep up-to-date on what's happening in the classroom. Please note that not all teachers use Schoology in the same way or to the same degree, so speak with your student's teacher if you have questions.

Planners Planners

Students will have a planner that they will be expected to fill out for each class. Students will be taught how to use these and will be expected to write down the lesson and if they have homework in that class or not! This is another way parents can keep track of homework, test/quiz reminders, and what they did during the school day!

Cell Phone Policy Cell Phone Policy

Personal electronic devices are not permitted to be used during the school day. Students must place their personal electronic devices in a school-issued locker. Such devices must be turned off or placed on silent mode to avoid disrupting the learning environment. Staff will not require students to use a personal electronic device for any purpose.

If a student violates this rule regarding device use, they may face disciplinary actions, which could include losing the privilege to bring the device to school. In such cases, parents/guardians might need to pick up the device from the school office.
