JOIN US FOR SPRINGTON LAKE'S OPEN HOUSE - AUGUST 28, 1:00-3:00 PM
Students and parents are invited on Thursday, August 28th, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM for a fun, informal Open House! Take a “walk” through your child’s class schedule, explore classrooms, and meet the teachers who make Springton Lake such a special place.
Be sure to check out our spirit wear, including gym t-shirts, Chromebook cases, and more, available for purchase (cash or checks only). An adult should attend with their child so we can all enjoy this exciting start to the school year together. No drop-offs, please.
FIRST DAYS OF SCHOOL
ARRIVAL & DISMISSAL
We’re excited to welcome our students each morning starting at 7:40 AM! For safety, all drop-off and pick-up should be curbside only in the lane in front of the building. Please avoid the parking lot.
Please pull forward as far as possible and follow staff directions for safety. Once stopped along the sidewalk, students should be ready to exit. The same process will be used for afternoon pick-up.
In the morning, students will head to:
-
6th grade → Cafeteria
-
7th & 8th grade → Auditorium
Students should be in first-period class by 7:55 AM.
Thank you for helping us make arrival and dismissal safe and smooth for all Spartans!
TENTATIVE SUPPLY LIST
To help you prepare for the first day, we’ve put together a tentative list of supplies your child may need. Many items are common across all teams, and teachers will share more details during the first days of school. We hope this helps families get a head start on shopping.
SCHOOL MEALS
The cost for lunch will be $3.95, and additional a la carte snack items will also be available for purchase. All Parents/Guardians who wish to receive free and reduced lunch benefits and qualify are encouraged to complete the application available on the district website.
Parents/Guardians may load money on their students' accounts by using MySchoolBucks. Parents/Guardians with an account from the previous school year do not need to create another account. Additionally, students can bring in cash or checks to be deposited into their meal accounts. To reduce the handling of cash, we will not provide change; any extra money will remain in the student’s account for future use.
What's for lunch? Take a look at the menu!
Breakfast will be available at no cost for the 2025-2026 school year. Students may select breakfast at the cart in the Main Lobby each morning upon their arrival to the building.
If your child will be purchasing lunch on the first day of school, please be sure to add money to their lunch account in advance.
TRANSPORTATION
The Transportation Department has completed scheduling of bus routes for the 25-26 school year. In addition to the letter that you should have received in the mail, please check the My Ride K-12 app for estimated pick-up and drop-off times. The routes will continue to be updated as new students enroll into our buildings, so please check the app before the first day of school to ensure that you have the most accurate times. For details on setting up the My Ride K-12 app, please go to the Transportation Department web page. If the route shown in the My Ride K-12 app is still incorrect or is missing, please contact the Transportation Department at 610-627-6475.
BACK-TO-SCHOOL NIGHT - SEPTEMBER 9th

Important Reminder: Back-to-School Night is usually very well attended. To help everyone enjoy the evening, we encourage you to arrive early and carpool if possible, as parking on campus is limited. Security officers will be available to assist with parking and ensure a smooth arrival.

SCHOOL CALENDAR
For your planning purposes, the Rose Tree Media School District has approved school calendars for the 2025-2026 AND 2026-2027 school years. Those calendars can be ACCESSED HERE. A more specific calendar of activities and events for Springton Lake will be shared in our August communication to families.
STUDENT ATTENDANCE
Regular school attendance is essential for success in school and contributes to the development of good work habits, a sense of responsibility, and self-discipline.
Call our Absentee Voicemail Hotline (610-627-6500, ext. 2) each day the student is absent. Absence is the non-attendance of a student on those days in which school is in session.
- In addition to the telephone call, a written note indicating the reason for the absence must be submitted upon the student’s return to school.
- A note containing parent/guardian’s signature may be scanned/emailed to the Main Office or a hard copy may be submitted to the Main Office.
- Parents/guardians may also utilize the function on the school’s website to submit an electronic excuse note FORM.
All families will continue to receive an automated telephone call whenever a student is marked absent in homeroom. The call will be sent regardless if you have called the attendance hotline. This is an enhanced safety procedure that we are pleased to have available.

PTG - PARENT TEACHER GROUP
The Springton Lake Middle School Parent Teacher Group (PTG) is a volunteer organization open to all parents and guardians and teachers who work together to provide educational enrichment, a sense of community, and school support in the spirit of cooperation and fun.
The work of the PTG is made possible from donations made by our families. More information about donating to the PTG will be included in subsequent newsletters.
The PTG will meet from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Library on the following dates:
10/14/25, 11/18/25, 01/20/26, 03/10/26, & 05/12/26. Everyone is invited to attend.

ONLINE PARENT REGISTRATION
Once again this year, the Rose Tree Media School District will be taking advantage of an online parent portal to provide some of the information that would typically be included in hardcopy form in our summer mailing. Parents will be able to sign off and acknowledge receipt of several forms, including the Student Handbook and the Chromebook Loan Agreement. The online portal will also be utilized for parents to update the student Emergency card. If you have not done so already, please take a moment to log-in to Home Access Center to complete this annual registration process. This process should be completed by August 31st.
Parents received an email on August 8, 2025 with directions to complete this task.
This process must be completed before 6th grade students can receive their Chromebook on the first day of school.
CELL PHONES & ELECTRONIC DEVICES
To keep classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted, all wireless devices, including cell phones, smart watches, earbuds, and similar devices, must be OFF and AWAY during the school day unless a teacher gives a specific academic reason to use them. Students will be reminded each morning to power down their devices.
Please let your child know that you will not be texting or calling during school hours. If a student needs to reach a parent, a staff member can provide permission. In an emergency, the main office is the best way to get in touch. More details are available in the Springton Lake Student Handbook.
Thank you for helping us create a safe, distraction-free learning environment!
CHROMEBOOKS
Students in grades 6–12 will have a Chromebook for use at school and home.
-
Grades 7 & 8: Bring a fully charged Chromebook on the first day.
-
Grade 6: Chromebooks will be distributed on the first day.
Please review the Loan Agreement for Chromebooks in the online enrollment portal.
Students should care for their Chromebook as they would personal technology. Those who do not may lose access. Protective cases are encouraged and available for $30.
Because we have limited spare chargers, students should charge their Chromebook nightly and carry their labeled charger in their backpack.
CHAPERONES & VOLUNTEERS
We are excited to welcome your involvement and participation in our school as a chaperone for our school trips or as a volunteer for various events and activities. If you anticipate wanting to chaperone or volunteer, please keep in mind that you are required to have valid clearances on file with the Rose Tree Media School District. More information on this process can be found in the Parent Portal.

RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS & PARENTS
A number of our important school documents can be accessed at https://slms.rtmsd.org/ under the Students & Families section. Additional resources, outlined below, will also be made available on our website in the near future.
INDEPENDENT READING BOOKS
Students are always expected to have an independent book that they are reading. Students are encouraged to make nightly reading a habit as part of their homework routine. The independent reading book also serves as a great resource throughout the school day. We strongly value our school’s partnership with parents and families. We encourage you to discuss with your child the books they are reading or interested in reading to help them make choices they will enjoy. Please take a moment to review this important communication from our librarian and the language arts team.
