Wall of Honor forms are due Friday, November 1.

Please follow these steps below to honor the Veterans in your life.

1st: Click this link to create your own copy of the flyer.

2nd: Edit slide 1 with your Veterans information. If you have more than one Veteran you would like to honor, please click on slide 1 to copy and paste the slide to create as many flyers as you need for the veterans in your life. You can also add a blank slide, and insert a photo that you would like to be posted alongside the Wall of Honor form. Slide 2 is a completed example flyer if needed.

3rd: Once you are finished editing your flyer, please click the share button in the top right hand corner, and type in your child’s teacher’s email to submit it to your teacher by November 1! Forms must be submitted on time to be printed and hung up on our Wall of Honor.

4th: If you did not submit a picture via the Google Slide, you can send a hard copy photo of your veteran in with your student to hang with the printed flyer. Please ensure that your students name, teacher, and grade are written on the back of the hard copy photo so that it can be returned to you after Veteran's Day. This is also due by 11/01.

Thank you so much for helping us honor the brave men and women in our lives!

Dia de Los Muertos

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to announce a new tradition at our school as we come together to celebrate "Día de los Muertos"—or Day of the Dead. This is a vibrant and meaningful holiday that honors and remembers loved ones who have passed away. Celebrated in many Latin American countries, particularly in Mexico, *Día de los Muertos* is a time of joy and remembrance, where families come together to celebrate the lives of their departed family members.

As part of this tradition, we will be creating an "ofrenda," a special altar where we will place photos of loved ones who have passed away. The ofrenda is a beautiful and traditional way to remember and celebrate the lives of those we hold dear. It is often decorated with flowers, candles, and mementos that reflect the joyful spirit of remembrance.

Beginning Monday, October 28th if you would like to participate, please send a photo of a loved one you would like to honor on the ofrenda. Along with the photo, please include your child's first and last name and their teacher's name so that we can ensure the photo is returned to you safely after the celebration. The Ofrenda will be in place the week of October 29-November 1.

We are thrilled to share this wonderful tradition with our students, helping them learn about the importance of family, culture, and honoring those who have come before us. Thank you for joining us in celebrating this beautiful holiday.

Warm regards,

Wendy Anaya

Straight from Nurse Mallory

I hope this message finds you well! I wanted to inform you about our annual Vision and Hearing Screenings, which are currently taking place here at Pine Forest Elementary School. These screenings are an essential part of ensuring your child's overall well-being and academic success. Early detection of vision or hearing issues can make a huge difference in your child's learning experience.

Here are a few important details: -

Who is being screened? All students in PreK, kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grades will participate. Students new to Humble ISD this year, regardless of grade, will also be screened.

When are the screenings? Screenings will be conducted during regular school hours throughout the next couple weeks.

What happens if my child needs follow-up? If your child does not pass the initial screening, you will receive a letter with information about follow-up care. In some cases, we may recommend a more thorough evaluation with an eye or hearing specialist. Please remind your child to bring their glasses if they normally wear them.

Our goal is to catch any potential concerns early so that we can support your child's learning as effectively as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to me at the school. Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our students healthy and ready to learn!

Warm regards,

Mallory Metcalf, RN
