Feature Gallery Exhibit Extended
MHM is excited to extend the running dates of this exhibit!
Katherine’s book showcasing her artwork is now available in the MHM Bookstore & Gift Shop, along with cards featuring her prints.
About the Artist
Katherine van Kampen is a Canadian artist whose creative journey has gracefully woven together the worlds of music and visual art. After earning her Master of Music degree from the University of British Columbia and her Associate Diploma (ARCT) in piano performance, she pursued a rich and successful career as a singer in both opera and oratorio, performing on stages around the world.
Now, having completed her solo singing career, Katherine is wholeheartedly devoted to expressing her heart through the medium of visual art. To her, colour is music, and form and shape are their own kind of melody. She seeks to uplift and inspire through her paintings, guided by her deep-rooted faith in Jesus Christ. Katherine’s paintings are available through the Vancouver Fine Art Gallery, and her website and on Artsy. These exhibit prints may be ordered by special request through www.kvkartdesign.ca.
Fresh from the Café
We’ve now been open on Fridays for two weeks, and it’s been wonderful to welcome so many visitors through the Café. Our hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10am–3pm. We look forward to seeing you in!
With the Café now open Fridays, we've updated our soups of the week menu. Borscht is served daily, and Tuesdays feature our always popular perogy and farmer sausage special. From Wednesday to Friday, we offer a second soup alongside our fresh baked zweiback buns.
In celebration of Easter, we’re offering traditional Mennonite Paska buns for a limited time in the Café. These soft sweet buns are topped with icing and sprinkles and make a perfect seasonal treat with coffee or lunch.

Exhibit Book Project
We are pleased to share that MHM’s exhibit Unearthing the Vanished: Mennonite Experiences in Stalin’s Great Terror is being developed into a coffee table book, to be released later this year. If you were moved by the exhibit, we invite you to consider making a donation to support this important publication project.
The book will be complemented by a dedicated website featuring stories of the disappeared, where additional family histories can be shared and preserved. If funding permits, a permanent wreath will also be created for the memorial cairn on the museum grounds.
How to Support this Publication Project:
- In person: Cash, debit, or credit at the museum
- By cheque or e-transfer:
- Cheques payable to Mennonite Museum Society
- E-transfer to accounts@mennonitemuseum.org
* Please include a note on the cheque or e-transfer: “Unearthing the Vanished Publication Project” All donations will be receipted
Thank you for helping us preserve these stories and honour the memory of those who were lost.
