πŸ’™ Tips from the Social Work Team: Preparing for a Positive School Year

As we begin a new school year, it’s important to remember that success goes beyond grades, it’s also about emotional well-being, healthy routines, and strong connections. Here are a few tips to help your student (and family) start the year on the right foot:

  1. Establish Routines Early
Consistency at homeβ€”like regular bedtimes, morning routines, and study schedulesβ€”helps students feel grounded and reduces stress.

  2. Create a Calm Space for Learning
Encourage your student to set aside a quiet, organized place at home where they can read, study, or complete homework.

  3. Check in Emotionally
Ask open-ended questions like β€œWhat are you most excited about this year?” or β€œIs there anything you’re worried about?” to help your student share their feelings.

  4. Foster Healthy Coping Skills
Encourage activities like journaling, listening to music, drawing, or exercise when your student feels stressed or overwhelmed.

  5. Stay Connected with the School
Remember, you’re not alone. Teachers, counselors, and the social work team are here to support your student academically, socially, and emotionally. Don’t hesitate to reach out!
