DFP Family Update

February 7, 2026

DFP Family UpdateFebruary 7, 2026
This week, students continued exploring the theme of Community Helpers, with a focus on mail carriers, doctors, and nurses. Through stories, play, and hands-on activities, children learned about the important jobs these helpers do in our community. We also investigated the science of shadows in connection with Groundhog Day, making predictions and observing how light creates shadows. In addition, we began learning about dental health, including why it is important to brush our teeth and take care of our smiles. Our letter of the week was “M,” and we practiced identifying it in print, along with continued work on counting and number recognition through songs, games, and small-group activities. We have a busy week ahead as we talk about friendship and kindness. Stay warm this weekend and of course, Go Pats!

The Importance of Being On Time The Importance of Being On Time

Arriving on time for preschool helps students start their day with confidence, predictability, and a sense of belonging. Consistent routines give young learners the structure they need to feel safe, engage fully, and make the most of their learning opportunities. When children begin the day calmly and on schedule, they are better prepared to participate, connect with peers, and build independence.

Equally important is picking up your child on time at the end of the day. Teachers have additional responsibilities after dismissal, including preparing materials, communicating with families, collaborating with colleagues, and planning for the next day. Timely pick-up ensures teachers can fulfill these duties while also honoring their commitments to all students and their own professional responsibilities. Thank you for partnering with us to support a smooth, successful day for everyone.

Parking at DFP/Elm Parking at DFP/Elm

The snow has reduced the number of parking spots we have available for DFP and Elm staffs and families. As a result, staff are parking in the spots in front of our playground as you have likely noticed. Please continue to use caution when arriving and exiting the school campus. Thank you for your cooperation to keep our staff and students safe.
