UPDATED: Grade 8 Calendar of Events

The Last Friday EVER at Bird Middle School

It's the last Friday ever here at BMS. The new middle school is almost completed and will be ready to open to all of the Walpole middle school students in the fall. Teachers and students are currently wrapping up their classes, doing any final make up work, and packing up in anticipation of the move.

There is much excitement surrounding the transitions ahead. Our 8th graders are preparing to move on to the 9th grade. The 6th & 7th graders are anticipating being the first classes in the new building. Teachers are excited but also feeling nostalgic as the doors to our venerated Bird Middle School prepare to close for the last time. Today, we invited back many of the BMS retirees for one last walk through the halls. We had a large turn out and it was a great reunion for many of the staff.

If you haven't heard, there will be a "Goodbye to BMS" event a week from today. On June 14th from 4:30 - 7:00 pm, community members and BMS alumni are invited to "take one last stroll through the hallways and classroom" before we close the doors for the last time. See the flyer below for more details.

Last Field Day at BMS Last Field Day at BMS

Today's Field Day was a tremendous success! All of the students had a great time playing soccer, cornhole, capture the flag, lacrosse, and much more. They were high spirited and went home with smiles on their faces.

We appreciate all of the effort and hard work put in by Ms. DeLude and Mr. Abate to make today possible!. Check out some photos from today's events.

Reminder from Ms. O'Rourke about ELA books Reminder from Ms. O'Rourke about ELA books

In anticipation of the move to the new middle school, all ELA novels are being inventoried and packed up. There are a number of students who borrowed novels during Term 1, 2 and 3 and did not return them. Please be on the lookout for emails from your students ELA teacher and encourage students to check at home and in their lockers for these novels. If these books cannot be located, please replace the book or reimburse us so we can order additional copies. Thank you for attention to this matter.
