Dear West Point Families,

We hope you enjoyed the beautiful spring weekend! Our last few weeks of school are quite busy. Please be sure to keep track of the Upcoming Dates section below. One thing we're excited about is our "Sweet Celebrations" positive behavior reward this Friday. Classes have set and met individual class behavior goals to earn this celebration. They will earn a yummy ice cream treat along with fun activities in place of this Friday's morning recess.

Here are three important things to know for the coming week.

1. Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week is this week, May 5-9. We have the most amazing staff, and our PTA has planned some really fun ways to show appreciation this week. Staff "favorite things" were emailed on Thursday. Thank you for the many ways you express your gratitude to them!

2. Excellence Projects:

  • We are asking students to bring their Excellence Projects to school on Wednesday, May 7. Students will display their projects in their classrooms on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • On Friday students will move their projects to the gym where the projects will be displayed through Tuesday, May 13
  • Parents are invited to come view the Excellence Projects on Tuesday, May 13 from 4:00-6:30 p.m.
  • All projects will be sent home on Wednesday, May 14.
  • Teachers are sending individual class links to parents of students who are submitting a video or powerpoint. Please upload your student's project to that link. We will show the videos in their classrooms and will then play the videos in the gym.

3. Field Day:
  • Permission Slips have been sent home. Please be sure to sign the permission slip and return it to your child's teacher right away. Students cannot participate in Field Day if permission slips are not signed.
  • The PTA still needs parent volunteers to help with Field Day. Please use this link to sign up to help with an a.m. or p.m. shift if you are available to do so. Thank you to all who have already signed up to help!

May's LETTERING Focus - E for Excellence

We are excited to see our students' Excellence Projects this month! We hope you will join us on Tuesday, May 13 between 4:00-6:30 p.m. to view our students' work.

Magical Manners

We are going revisiting some of our favorite manners for the remainder of the year. This week's manner is, "Celebrate Others," which is an important friendship skill. This manner helps us show others we care about them and their successes. We don't say they got lucky or didn't deserve it. We get a chance to forget ourselves and see the good in others.

Attendance Adds Up

Please be aware of your students' attendance and help them to be at school every day. We understand that students who are sick need to be home. However, missing a day of school here and there adds up quickly and puts students behind. Thank you for your support!
