Mr Lisseman - Headteacher

Dear Parents & Carers,

Thank you to all the parents and carers who attended the recent information evening for the upcoming Ski trip to Austria. It was great to see such strong engagement and support, and we appreciate the time taken to ensure students are well prepared.

Our GCSE students have been working so hard in preparation for their mock exams which start next week - we believe in you - you've got this!!

This week has also been filled with enriching trips. Year 9 students visited a synagogue in Richmond as part of their learning about the Holocaust, Year 11 Drama students went to see the theatre production of Lost Atoms in Hammersmith, and Year 10 students visited the British Film Institute to watch French films and further immerse themselves in French language and culture. These experiences provide valuable learning beyond the classroom and are always a highlight for students.

Finally, we would like to renew our request for volunteers to support rugby parking. If you have any time available, please consider signing up — this fundraising effort plays an important role in supporting opportunities and enrichment for our students.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We look forward to another positive week ahead.

Student Bulletin Student Bulletin

Each Monday morning in tutor time, students and their form tutors review the weekly student bulletin. This is a round up of all the important information, notices and reminders that they need to know. The bulletin is also posted on the screens around school so they can refer back to it at any time.

Ms Johnson - Head of Year 9

We would like to remind parents of Year 9 students that Year 9 Parents’ Evening will be held on Thursday 12 February from 4- 7pm. Given the upcoming GCSE options choices, it will be a great opportunity for students and families to consult their subject teachers prior to making final decisions.

Parents’ Evening provides an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and gain insight into how best to support their learning. Additionally, you will have the chance to ask questions, share any concerns you may have, and work together with the teachers to create a supportive learning environment for your child.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 12 February.

PC Smith - Twickenham School Police Liason Officer

On 5th February 2026 you may, or may not, have seen there were some officers conducting Speed Enforcement in the area. Percy Road got 20 tickets within a 30 min period. One driver was clocked at 39MPH which could could lead to a loss of licence.

It was noted that 50% of the drivers speeding on Percy Road were Parents/Carers of Twickenham School students.

I’m sure you will support us in driving down the speed outside of School. Parents/Carers need to be mindful of the speed they are doing, where they are parking and the daily, dangerous, overtaking of stationary vehicles waiting for the lights to change at Percy Road/Hospital Bridge Road junction.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our roads and our children safe.

Spotlight on Year 8 - Caught Being Kind Spotlight on Year 8 - Caught Being Kind

Ms Povey - Head of Year 8

Having been at the school for five weeks now, I can honestly say how happy I am to be back teaching and working in the borough. The students have been incredibly welcoming, and I’m genuinely excited to get to know each of them as the year goes on.

This term, we are launching our Year 8 value of Kindness. Alongside this, I’m pleased to introduce our new “Caught Being Kind” initiative, where we will be celebrating those moments—big or small—when students show care, respect, and empathy towards others. As a year group, we will also be placing a strong focus on Integrity, encouraging students to make positive choices, do the right thing even when no one is watching, and take pride in their conduct.

I’m very much looking forward to working with you all, supporting our Year 8s to grow in confidence, character, and kindness throughout the year ahead.

Ms Martin - Assistant Headteacher and Head of Careers

Next week is National Apprenticeship Week, a chance for students to explore the wide range of apprenticeships and T Levels available after school and college. These pathways offer high-quality training, real work experience, and clear routes into employment. All students have taken part in assemblies this week to introduce these options and highlight the opportunities available at ages 16, 18 and beyond.

Throughout next week, students will be able to take part in quizzes, challenges, and research tasks, with opportunities to earn ePraise and house points. These will be posted on ePraise so students can access links and engage in research.

There will also be lunchtime drop-in sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in Aspire centre, where students can ask questions, explore options, and get support with research.

We encourage families to talk with students about their future options and take part in the conversations happening next week.

Richmond Synagogue visit Richmond Synagogue visit

Ms Iqbal - Head of Humanities

This week a group of Year 9 pupils visited Richmond Synagogue for a workshop led by the Holocaust Education Trust. During the session, pupils explored Jewish life before the Second World War and learned about the impact of Nazi persecution across Europe. A particularly powerful part of the visit was hearing from a guest speak, who shared her family’s experiences of living in France during Nazi occupation. Her account brought history to life and helped pupils understand how ordinary families were affected by extraordinary and tragic events. The workshop concluded with a quiet and moving moment, as pupils lit a memorial candle to remember the millions of people who lost their lives during the Holocaust. This visit was a valuable opportunity for pupils to reflect on the importance of remembrance, empathy and standing up against prejudice.

The league seasons concluded for several competitions this week, with the Year 7 Basketball team playing their final matches at Sir Richard Reynolds and Turing House. They narrowly lost both games but showed great resilience and determination, finishing third in the league.

It was fantastic to see over 29 students attend Table Tennis Club this week. During the final week of term, students will be taking part in house games during lessons, which will focus on Ultimate Frisbee.
