Beckwith Bulletin

June 20, 2025
BMS Community,
There is only 1 day left of school! A reminder that the last day is Monday, June 23rd, and it will be an early release day.
For students entering Grades 5–8:
Please review the summer reading overview, school supply list, and fall sports sign-up information below.
Important note about fall sports:
A current physical must be on file in the health room in order to try out. This requirement was added after the initial fall sports sign-up information was shared last week, so please be sure to review the updated details below.
Have a great weekend!
FALL 2025 SPORTS SIGN UPS
Please use this link to sign your rising 6th, 7th or 8th grader up for Fall 2025 Sports. These include Girls' Soccer, Boys' Soccer and Cross Country. Please remember, and remind your student, that they are students first, athletes second. In order to remain on a school team and be able to play, their primary responsibility is behavior and academic performance in school.
A current physical must be on file in the health room in order to try out. Physicals are valid for 13 months. Students without a current physical on file will not be permitted to try out.
If you have any questions or would like to check if your child has a current physical on file, please contact the school nurse at cmondor@drregional.org or call the health office.

SUMMER READING
Summer Reading Overview:
Grade 5: Students may choose between reading a book or keeping an experience journal centered around the theme "Experiences."
Grade 6: Students will select a book related to the theme "Tolerance" and complete a brief reading reflection.
Grade 7: Students will read Hatchet by Gary Paulsen and answer comprehension questions. All materials can be accessed through the Grade 7 Summer Reading Google Classroom.
Grade 8: Students will read Uglies by Scott Westerfeld and complete an evidence log. Materials are available on the Grade 8 Summer Reading Google Classroom.
Both Grade 7 and Grade 8 novels will be incorporated into students’ beginning-of-year writing assessments, so timely completion is especially important.
