August 29th-Whole School Meet and Greet 2-2:30pm, Kindergarten will stay from 2:30-3:00pm

August 30th-First Day of School-Arrival at 8:20am

Dear DCS families, as we step into August I wanted to reach out to say hello to our returning families and a welcome to our new families!

My name is Nicole Pease and I am returning to the Principal role at DCS after stepping back into the classroom for a year. I have been in the ConVal District for 22 years and am very much looking forward to starting my 23 year in the school I attended as an elementary student! I am excited to reconnect with families and to get to know our new families.

In the next few weeks you will receive another email from me and from your child/ren's teacher with much more detail about our school and schoolday, but I wanted to reach out and share some general information for you.

We will be holding a school wide Meet and Greet on Tuesday August 29th from 2:00pm-2:30pm. Kindergarteners will be invited to stay and board a school bus from 2:30pm-3pm.

The first day of school is Wednesday August 30th. Arrival is at 8:20am, this is one of the few times we ask you not to be early! The school day begins at 8:40am and Dismissal is at 3:25. Please keep late arrivals and early pick ups to a minimum as they are disruptive.

Please be aware that we value being outdoors and will start our day outside and will be out at recess each day unless below 10 degrees, lightning, or this year we may need to add a tornado to this list! Be sure your child is prepared for being outside each day.

Our classroom teachers this year will be Deb Lang-Kindergarten and First Grade, Heather Fletcher-Grade 2, we welcome Kristen Garland for Grade 3 , Deb Quinn-Grade 4 and 5, and I will be teaching as well. At this point that will be 5th grade Science and Kindergarten Math. Ellen Gorr will continue as our Special Educator, and Jo-Ann Hopkins as the Administrative Assistant.

We also welcome Justin Bentley-Melle in Art, and Emily Primrose in Library. Jackie Neillsen will return in Music, and Kelly Parker in Wellness. For new families, these Specials rotate each week throughout the year. We will make sure you and your child know which Special is upcoming. We will have Wellness to start the school year so be sure your children have their sneakers!
