As we head into the holiday season, it’s a perfect time to express gratitude for the people who support our children every day, the dedicated teachers and staff of the Siskiyou School. Their care, skill, and commitment create a space where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, and the Teacher Cards and Gift Fund offers a meaningful way to honor their hard work. Instead of individual gifts, families are invited to write personalized notes and contribute to a shared fund that is distributed to all teachers and staff before winter break.

Beginning this week, parents can stop by the music room in the morning to sign cards, contribute to the fund, and enjoy tea, treats, and community connection. Donations may be made in person or online, and all contributions are anonymous. Cards will be available to sign until Wednesday, December 17 at 1:00 p.m., and the gifts will be presented at the staff holiday gathering. Thank you for helping celebrate the remarkable individuals who nurture and inspire our children all year long!

Sunrise Class - 3rd Grade Sunrise Class - 3rd Grade

The past month in the Sunrise class was a joyful one! We had a lantern walk and an overnight, a first for many in the class! We dried apples, churned butter, ground herbs, and enjoyed homemade (classmade?) tomato soup and canned pears. The children's writing, reading, and math skills grow stronger by the day, and weekly homework has now begun. In November we were fully immersed in the story of Noah's Ark. It shaped our writings, drawings, and paintings for the month. Now, as December begins we are embarking on the great journey of our play for this year! As in all things, the class is filled to the brim with enthusiasm, joy, and excitement about this process. We cannot wait to share with you all on the 17th! Blessings on our school.

Blue Heron Class - 8th Grade Blue Heron Class - 8th Grade

It was a very busy Winter Faire for the 8th Graders! We want to express our gratitude to the

entire community for supporting our Entrepreneurs Table and for purchasing our lovely little

holiday trees. We sold out! Your generosity means so much to us. The proceeds from this

fundraising effort will go directly to our 8th Grade Trip next May. So, thank you!

In Main Lesson, we have moved out of a large block of study on the history of the United

States of America from 1605 to 1846. It was very full. During this block, we explored the early

stages of our country including the founding of the republic, the Constitution, and the

expansion of land acquisition of the lower 48 states, while touching on many important points

and moments along the way. We will resume the study of our nation’s history after winter break.

This month we take up the study of Physiology. We’ve done a quick review of the bodily

systems we covered last year: respiration, circulation, digestion, and reproduction. Now we will

learn about the lymphatic system, the nervous system, muscles, bones, and the brain. It

promises to be a full month.

We are looking forward to seeing you all at Winter Assembly on December 11th! The Blue

Heron Class has a couple of special things in store for you all, and we are confident the night

will be wonderful from start to finish. See you there!

Warmly,

Mr. Beech

Middle School Parents -- Hola, I'm Profe Cohen, a parent (2nd, 5th,6th, & 8th) and I'm the Spanish teacher at Madrone Trail Charter. I am leading a Middle School Spanish Immersion Trip this summer to Peru (Lima, Cusco, Sacred Valley & Machu Picchu) with EF Tours to experience ancient Incan history and give the students a chance to be in an all Spanish & Latin American culture reality. This is an amazing opportunity to open their eyes up to other cultures. This trip is open to 6th-8th graders (and their parents who would like to join--parental accompaniment NOT mandatory). My goal is to create an interconnectedness to the world and its peoples and fuel their passion to learn other languages! If you are interested in registering, please click on the link for more trip info, fees, etc. http://www.eftours.com/2968879NZ

If I get enough parent interest, I will host an info meeting next week. Please confirm interest at ruth.cohen@madronetrail.org. I can't think of a more epic mother-son/daughter, father-daughter/son trip than Peru & Machu Picchu!
