A Message From the Principal
Dear Families,
March is here, and we will soon see migrating birds returning to our backyards and parks. It is truly an exciting time of year. I am incredibly thankful for the support you have shown our new residents; because of your welcoming spirit, the majority of our online students have now returned to in-person learning. We look forward to welcoming our remaining online students back next school year. I also want to extend a sincere thank you for providing meals during conferences and for your ongoing dedication to our school community.
This week, we received our budget allocations for the upcoming school year. While our special education programming will be smaller next year, we are pleased to maintain a 0.6 FTE counselor and a 0.5 FTE school social worker. The social worker position will see a slight reduction of 0.1 FTE. Additionally, our school psychologist position will adjust from 0.5 FTE to 0.3 FTE, following the relocation of the Connect program from Weaver next year.
In terms of the general budget, our allocation is 1.149 FTE lower than the current year. This change is primarily driven by two factors:
· Compensatory Funds: A reduction of 0.649 FTE due to fewer families qualifying for student benefits (free and reduced meals).
· Achievement and Integration: A reduction of 0.5 FTE, which reflects rising operational costs and a broader distribution of these funds across more schools in the district.
I am currently evaluating the best ways to balance our resources. Please be assured that our budget continues to prioritize a teacher for every classroom, and we do not anticipate an increase in class sizes. I deeply value every member of our talented staff and am committed to minimizing the impact of these adjustments on our school family.
Regardless of these shifts, my commitment remains the same: we will continue to provide a high-quality STEM and academic experience for every student.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ronald Salazar
Engineering Night - Rescheduled
Engineering Night has been rescheduled: Tuesday, April 21.
From the Volunteer Coordinator
Greetings Weaver Lake Volunteers!
Weaver Lake wants to give a HUGE shout out to all of the volunteers who helped over the last month! From two PTO events to getting artwork ready for display to everyday tasks, we could not do it without your help!
The work doesn’t stop, though, and our weather is becoming more spring-like everyday. As we begin to dry out, we’d love to start offering the Big Blue Blocks during recess again! The PTO is also gearing up their upcoming Family BINGO Night. This fun evening event is set for April 10th and we’ll be looking for volunteer help to make this night a success. Registered volunteers should keep an eye on their inboxes for more information about these upcoming opportunities.
Not registered and want more information? Check out the volunteer website at https://bit.ly/WVRvolunteer . There you can find the answers to many commonly asked questions, see what opportunities are currently available and get registered!

Student Illness Reminder
Students who go home ill from school need to be seen by the school nurse before they go home. This helps us ensure that illnesses are tracked properly and that the school nurse can give the parent/guardian the correct return to school information.
Also, students need to be free from vomiting and/or fever (without fever-reducing medication) for 24 hours from the last vomit or recorded fever in order to return to school. Please help us prevent the spread of germs by keeping your student home under these parameters.
Immigration-related safety, support and resources
This continues to be a very trying time in our community. Many of our families and colleagues are dealing with immense feelings of fear and anxiety due to Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) action taking place. Our foremost priority during this time, as always, is to create safe and secure learning environments, and to provide meaningful education to each and every student in our community.
Our district and school teams have put many plans into place to ensure the continuation of this opportunity for all of our students. Please refer to our dedicated website for the most up-to-date information, including on topics like learning options, meals and safety/security procedures.
Online Class Parenting Your Child with Special Needs
Community Education’s Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) program is currently offering a Parenting Your Child with Special Needs online class through May for families with children from birth through grade 3, with a focus on supporting parents/caregivers raising children with special needs, delays, disabilities, or medical needs. While the online class has already started, continued new enrollment is encouraged. No family will be turned away from participating due to inability to pay the sliding scale class fee.
