Elgin ISD employees filled the auditorium this morning for a convocation to remember as we celebrated the people who make a difference for our students every single day.

This morning, we officially announced our theme for the year: Destination: Excellence. ✈️

It’s more than a theme. It’s a reminder that we’re all on this journey together. We may come from different places, have different experiences and serve in different roles, but we’re traveling in the same direction. And we’re headed toward the same Destination: Excellence.

The EHS cheerleaders, Purple Diamonds and Wildcat Band brought the energy from the moment we walked through the auditorium doors. We kicked things off with a fun video before showing our campus and department pride for our Parade of Schools and Departments, as campuses cheered each other on and celebrated the start of a new year together.

Board President Byron Mitchell added a special touch to the morning by sharing a special song with the packed auditorium, while Elgin Education Foundation President Noble Smith brought the excitement with a message of support for our employees...including a special employee raffle!

Our keynote speaker, J.Dash, spoke from the heart and reminded us that, "...what's internal is real" as we prepare for the journey ahead.

Getting to our destination won’t be about one person or one campus. It will take all of us.

Different starting points. Different roles. One journey. One destination: Excellence.

¡Los empleados de Elgin ISD llenaron el auditorio esta mañana para una convocatoria inolvidable, celebrando a las personas que marcan la diferencia para nuestros estudiantes cada día!

Anunciamos oficialmente el tema de este año: Destino: Excelencia. Podemos venir de diferentes lugares, roles y experiencias, pero todos viajamos hacia el mismo destino.

Las porristas de EHS, las Purple Diamonds y la Banda Wildcat llenaron de energía el ambiente desde el inicio, seguido por nuestro Desfile de Escuelas y Departamentos, donde los planteles se animaron mutuamente.

El presidente de la Mesa Directiva, Byron Mitchell, compartió una canción especial; el presidente de la Fundación Educativa de Elgin, Noble Smith, trajo noticias emocionantes (¡incluyendo una rifa para empleados!); y nuestro orador principal, J.Dash, nos recordó que "lo que es interno es real."

Llegar a nuestro destino requerirá de todos nosotros. Diferentes puntos de partida. Diferentes roles. Un mismo viaje.

Abróchense los cinturones, Wildcats. ✈️ ¡Vamos en camino! 💜🐾

In accordance with House Bill 1481, Elgin ISD requires all students to leave their personal communication devices at home or power them off and store them away, out of sight, while on school property during the school day. The school day begins at the signal of the first bell and ends at the signal of the dismissal bell, and includes tutorial periods, all instructional time, lunch, and passing periods.

Is your child turning 4 by Sept. 1? They may qualify for FREE Pre-Kindergarten at Elgin ISD!

To qualify, your child must:

Turn 4 on or before Sept. 1

Live within Elgin ISD boundaries

Meet immunization requirements

Meet ONE of these criteria:

Economically disadvantaged

English language learner

Homeless

Child of active-duty military (or military member injured/killed on duty)

Current or former ward of Child Protective Services

Child of a first responder (police, fire, EMS) seriously injured or killed in the line of duty
