LIS Tiger Talk
October 23, 2026
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
What a wonderful way to cap off the week! Today, our 6th graders participated in their event for A Long Walk to Water, and it was a huge success. We could not have asked for better weather as our students brought their reading to life. We are deeply grateful for your water and monetary donations. Your generosity makes a meaningful impact, and we look forward to sharing the tangible results later this school year.
Looking ahead, Tuesday brings a special visit from author Struan Murray, offering our students a great opportunity to connect with a professional writer. On Friday, we will wrap up the week with our costume contest! We love seeing our students' imagination and spirit, and we cannot wait to see what creative costumes they come up with this year.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership. Have a restful weekend!
Go Tigers!

Mark You Calendars- Veteran's Day Event
We are excited to announce our 3rd annual Veteran’s Day Assembly to be held on Wednesday, November 11th at 8:30am at Loveland Intermediate School. This event is a wonderful opportunity to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. We invite you to bring special veterans in your life—family members, friends, or neighbors—so we can recognize their service. This is a great way for us to express our gratitude and show appreciation for their dedication and sacrifice. After the assembly, there will be a small gathering with treats for students and their special veterans in the Media Center.
Please mark your calendars and reach out to the veterans in your life. If you plan to have a guest attending, please take a moment to complete the google form below so we know how many guests to plan for. If you have any pictures of our special guests during their service, please email them to hartjo@lovelandschools.org.
We look forward to honoring our veterans at this meaningful event.
Human Growth & Development

Red Ribbon Week
This week we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week!
The Red Ribbon Campaign® is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people each year during the week of October 23rd - October 31st.
It is a way for communities to unite and take a visible stand against drugs.
This year’s theme is, “Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free.”
We encourage you to partner with us at home by discussing this important message at the dinner table, during family outings, and with friends and extended family. Here are some topics of discussion:
How you can be a hero for someone else by living drug free.
Being a hero doesn’t require a cape, just choices.
How one choice can inspire many in your school, your home, and your community.
Heroes ask for help, stand up for others, and stay true to their goals.
Heroes aren’t born—they’re built through everyday choices.
We will make a morning announcement on Monday to kick off the week. Students will have the opportunity to sign a banner during lunch pledging to live a healthy lifestyle. Students will also have the opportunity to do additional activities during Tiger Time throughout the week.
Thank you for partnering with us as we all continue to wrap around our students to teach them how to live a healthy lifestyle.

Loveland Tiger Talks........ Pen Pal Club with Highschoolers!
We are excited to announce the sign ups are open for a mentoring club at Loveland High School called Tiger Talks. This club was created by a graduated student with the mission to create meaningful connections between LES/LIS students and LHS mentors. If you choose to sign your child up for Tiger Talks, they will be paired with a high school student who will become their pen pal. This club is done in the student’s free time, so parent reminders to write to the High Schooler may be needed.
If you are interested in signing your child up for the program, please click here and fill out this form by October 30. This form will ask you to provide your student’s name, and there are a few questions that will ask you about your student’s interests. This will assist in matching your student with an LHS student. Participation in this program is completely optional and LIS students will be paired with mentors on a first come, first serve basis. Tiger Talks is being advised/supervised by Loveland school psychologists.
If you have additional questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Noah Gilbert (LIS School Psychologist), Rachel Freeman-Hicks (LHS School Psychologist/Club Advisor), or Niki Parvanova and Natalie Moran (Club Presidents). Their contact information is below. Thank you!

Gifted Testing
The state of Ohio requires that school districts provide an identification procedure for gifted/talented students. However, per the Ohio Department of Education, school districts are not required to serve. Click HERE to learn more about how Loveland serves gifted students. Loveland offers full grade testing in second and fourth grades. If parents/teachers wish to refer a student for gifted testing outside of the full-grade testing options, they may complete a Gifted Identification Referral Form. The referral testing options will take place during November and February. If you would like to refer your child for fall testing, the form is due to Brittany King, LIS School Counselor, no later than October 26, 2025. If you have any questions, please contact Miss King at kingbr@lovelandschools.org for more information.

REMINDER: Car Riders- Drop Off and Pick Up Process for LIS/LMS
As we move further into the school year, morning drop-off now occurs while it is still dark outside.
With students walking to school from multiple directions,
maintaining high caution on and around campus is essential.
We respectfully remind all families to follow our prescribed drop-off and pick-up traffic patterns.
These routines are in place to ensure both safety and efficiency for everyone accessing our campus during school hours. We are including the images of traffic patterns as a reminder. Thank you for your commitment to student safety.
