Finishing Q2 Strong & Upcoming Opportunities!

Hard to believe, but there are only three weeks left in the second quarter! As we wrap up this half of the school year, it’s the perfect time to reflect, refresh, and make a strong final push.

Quick Tips to Finish Quarter 2 Strong:

  • Reflect & Reset: Take a moment with your student to look back at their progress so far. Celebrate their wins, no matter how small, and discuss any remaining challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.

  • Check Academic Habits: Refresh routines around homework, organization, and bedtime. Small tweaks to daily habits can make a big difference in reducing end-of-quarter stress.

  • Focus on Well-Being: As the weather changes and schedules get busier, encourage downtime, regular sleep, and healthy habits.

11th Grade PCCRs Are Underway! Junior year is an important time to start thinking about life after high school. Please sign up for a PCCR appointment to meet with your counselor and discuss finishing high school, graduation requirements, and planning for college and your future.

  • PCCR Dates: October 19th – November 12th

  • Sign up for your appointment:https://calendar.app.google/Xu31deQzSCWBq4zm8

Our counseling team is here to support your student's academic, social, and emotional growth. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need resources or support!

Celebrating Bilingualism

Knowing more than one language means having more ways to connect, share ideas, and tell our stories. Our multilingual students bring these strengths into classrooms across our school every day.

In a future newsletter, we’d love to highlight some of their voices, experiences, and work, while allowing each student to choose what they feel comfortable sharing.

Balancing Academics & Athletics

We want our student-athletes to be successful both in the classroom and in their sport. To support this goal, student grades will be checked every Monday and Tuesday as part of our athletic academic expectations.

πŸ“š What Happens If a Student Is Failing?

If a student is failing a class, they will be placed on the Academic Study Hall list. Coaches will receive a list of students who need to attend, and those students will be pulled from their sports period and will miss practice on Monday and/or Tuesday.

Students will return to their regular practice schedule on Wednesday and Thursday, and this process will repeat weekly as needed.

βœ… How Does a Student Return to Their Sports Period?

Students will remain in Academic Study Hall until they can demonstrate progress toward passing their classes. To return to their regular sports period, students must:

  • Complete and submit missing or incomplete assignments.

  • Work toward bringing their grade(s) to a passing level.

  • Show the Study Hall teacher their passing grades and submitted work.

  • Receive clearance from the Study Hall teacher before returning to their sports period.

🎯 Our Goal

Our goal is not to keep students from participating in their sport. Rather, this process is designed to help student-athletes understand that academic success is a requirement for athletic participation while providing dedicated time and support to get caught up.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ How Parents & Guardians Can Help

Parents and guardians can play an important role by regularly monitoring their student's grades and missing assignments. Staying aware of grades throughout the week can help prevent a student from being placed in Academic Study Hall and missing practice.

For added convenience, we have provided instructions on how to become a Parent Observer in Canvas. This allows parents and guardians to monitor their student's:

  • Courses

  • Grades

  • Assignments

  • Upcoming work

Thank you for partnering with us to support our student-athletes and reinforce the importance of balancing academics and athletics.

Questions about the academic eligibility process? Please contact the school and ask for Heidi White

CARPOOL CONNECTIONS CARPOOL CONNECTIONS

Together We Go Further – Academics. Athletics. Community.

Does your family need help with transportation to or from school? Are you interested in connecting with other Salt Lake Academy families in your area who may also be looking for carpool options?

Salt Lake Academy families can access the Frogtummy Carpool feature through their Aspire account. This resource helps participating families find and connect with other school families in their area to explore possible carpool arrangements.

How to Get Started

  1. Log in to your Aspire account.
  2. Access the Frogtummy Carpool feature.
  3. Look for participating families in your area.
  4. Connect directly with families to discuss possible transportation arrangements.

Please remember: Salt Lake Academy is helping families become aware of and access the Frogtummy carpool resource. The school does not arrange, supervise, approve, or guarantee individual carpools. All transportation arrangements are made independently between participating families. Families are responsible for determining whether a carpool arrangement is appropriate for them.
