Welcome Back, CUSD!
I hope everyone had a restful break. It’s been wonderful to visit classrooms this week and see teachers and students re-engaged and enthusiastically tackling the second half of the school year. Good luck to all secondary students wrapping up their terms next week!
Next Thursday at the monthly board meeting (4pm in the Board Room) I will be presenting the State of the District report. After decades of strategically planning and budgeting, we are finally on the precipice of becoming a Basic Aid community-funded district in the 2027-28 school year. The report will highlight the challenges and opportunities that will come with that transition. Also on the agenda is the annual report for Coronado Middle School. If you cannot attend in person, the meetings are always livestreamed on our website.
Something on the horizon to be aware of, we are in the early stages of crafting a new cell phone policy in CUSD for the 2026-27 school year. Look for a parent forum later this month to inform the community about what changes are being considered.
Also coming up, our partners at Safe Harbor Coronado are hosting a very important and timely online safety presentation for parents (Cyber Safety Cop) on January 27th in the CUSD Board Room. See details below.
Don’t forget, this next week (1/16-19) is a four-day weekend for students (no school Friday and Monday). Friday is a staff work day but school sites will be closed.
Have a great weekend,
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- Lindsay Goldman: I just wanted to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Goldman who has been so incredible throughout these last couple of years. I cannot say enough great things about Mrs. Goldman, I am just a very, very, grateful parent and I just want the school to know how lucky they are to have her. I don't have enough gratitude for her professionalism, herself as an amazing counselor, and herself as a person. She's amazing!
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
