Clap-In Weather Update

August 18, 2026

Dear Fairfax Families,

We are so excited to welcome our students back to school tomorrow! One of our favorite first-day traditions is our Clap-In, where our staff and families come together to celebrate the start of a new school year.

However, rain is expected tomorrow morning, and the safety and comfort of our students and families are our top priority.

Tomorrow morning, I will assess the weather and determine whether it is safe and feasible to hold our Clap-In as planned. I will send a text message to families at 7:00 AM with the final decision.

If the Clap-In is canceled tomorrow:

• Please hug your child, say your goodbyes outside, and send them into the building at 8:45 AM.

• Our staff will be ready to welcome students and help them get where they need to go.

• For safety reasons, parents will need to say their goodbyes outside the building.

• We will reschedule our Clap-In for Monday, August 24, on the playground.

Monday, August 24, was originally planned as our Kindergarten Clap-In to celebrate the day when all of our Kindergarten students begin school together. If we need to postpone tomorrow's Clap-In, Monday will become an all-school Clap-In for Kindergarten through Grade 5!

We know how special this tradition is to our Fairfax community, and we look forward to celebrating with all of our Tigers. Thank you for your flexibility and, most importantly, for helping us keep our students safe.

Please watch for our 7:00 AM text tomorrow morning with the final decision.

• No Kindergarten Students report (see the letter sent to families)

• All Kindergartners Start - Clap-In at the Front Door

Tuesday, August 25

• Curriculum Night 5:30-7:30 PM

• PTA Ice Cream Social 5:30-7:30 PM

• Homecoming Parade

• Sneaker Ball

• Picture Day

• Trunk or Treat
