Message from the Principal
Winding Down the Fall Semester
12/7/25
A Message from Dr. Delgado:
Wildcat Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful welcome back from the holidays last week. We now find ourselves just two weeks away from our long winter break! I hope your time off was restful and filled with moments with family and friends. I enjoyed a lovely break myself—and even managed to catch a few more moments of sleep than usual, which was both amazing and much appreciated.
Even with only two weeks left, we have quite a bit to squeeze in. I thoroughly enjoyed our Winter Band Concert on Friday, and I know our choir is eager to perform at Connally High School on Tuesday evening to showcase their talents and holiday spirit. Our basketball teams will take on Bohls Middle School on Wednesday and Thursday, and we’ll finish the week with our Winter Dance on Friday from 4:00–6:00 p.m. We will be selling tickets throughout the week, and students may also use their PBIS points if they prefer.
Next week brings even more exciting events: our Beginning Band Concert, a Kickstart Belt Ceremony, our Nine Weeks Cumulative Assessments, basketball games against PMS. Our end-of-year festivities will occur on December 19th, our last school day before the break. Please remember that we will also have early release at 12:45 p.m. on this day.
Let’s all pull together and make these next two weeks exceptional. We need our students to give it their all and be their very best each and every day as we wrap up the semester. I am so proud of all our Wildcats, and I cannot wait to see their talents shine—whether in the classroom, on their assessments, on the basketball court, or through their musical performances in band and choir.
Wildcats are THE BEST!
PBIS Points & Wildcat Marketplace
At Westview Middle School, we believe in celebrating the positive choices our students make every day. We are excited to announce the launch of our new PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Points System, which will begin this Tuesday!
Our Wildcats have been doing a fantastic job earning PBIS points this semester! Keep up the great work—those points add up quickly, and students are free to use them however they choose. This week, students may use their PBIS points to purchase game tickets and Winter Dance tickets, in addition to all the regular items available through our Wildcat Marketplace.
To help everyone stay informed, I will link the Wildcat PBIS Points Matrix, which reminds students exactly how points are earned, as well as our Marketplace Item List, showing everything students can purchase with their points.
Keep demonstrating those Wildcat expectations and earning points—your choices pay off!

Parent Action Required: New Consent Forms for Student Health & Counseling Services
Texas Senate Bill 12, passed by the 89th Legislature and signed into law in June 2025, now requires parents to provide written consent for students to receive health and counseling services in schools.
This law mandates:
-
Annual consent forms for routine health, social, and mental wellness services.
-
Clarification on when additional consent or opt-out is required for other health-related services.
👉 Important: At this time, all consent forms must be completed online in Skyward. On Friday, all parents should have received both an email and a text with directions for completing this process.
Please note:
-
Students will not be able to see the school counselor or nurse without this consent in place.
-
It is imperative that all parents complete this form online as quickly as possible so that students do not experience an interruption in receiving care.
We also recognize that this process may be easier for some families than others. To support you, we will be offering:
Staff will be available to help families complete these forms onsite so that every student has access to the health and counseling services they need.
Thank you for your partnership in making sure our Wildcats are cared for both academically and personally.
📱 Cell Phone Reminder
At Westview Middle School, our goal is to maintain a focused, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment for all students. As a reminder, cell phones are not allowed to be seen or used during the school day. This includes hallways, classrooms, and common areas.
To support consistency across the district, we will be following the PfISD Cell Phone Consequence Ladder for any violations:
OffenseConsequence 1st OffenseDevice confiscated — must be picked up by a parent or guardian. 2nd OffenseDevice confiscated and lunch detention assigned (documented in Skyward). 3rd OffenseDevice confiscated, ½ day of ISS, and a parent meeting required. Chronic IssuesMay result in a full day of ISS, a behavior plan, or a temporary ban on bringing the device to school.
We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing this expectation at home. When students are free from distractions, they can better focus, engage, and succeed in their learning.
💜 Go Wildcats — focused and ready to learn!
Adult Evening English Classes
📖 English Classes for Parents & Families
We are excited to share that, due to the wonderful participation and enthusiasm from our parents, we have decided to extend our Adult ESL classes! Instead of ending on December 3rd, classes will now continue through December 10th.
Our team is already hard at work planning additional learning opportunities for the spring semester. We are committed to offering meaningful, accessible ways for our families to engage, learn, and grow—together with us.
Please stay tuned for more information about upcoming parent and family engagement opportunities. There is nothing I love more than having our families in our building, learning alongside us and strengthening our Wildcat community.
Thank you for being such an important part of Westview Middle School!
Adult Evening Computer Classes
💻 Parent Computer Classes Begin This Week!
We are excited to announce that our Parent Computer Classes will begin this Thursday from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. right here at Westview Middle School!
These classes are designed to help parents and guardians build confidence in using technology — from navigating school platforms to developing digital skills that support both personal and family success.
We’re proud to continue offering these opportunities for our families as part of our ongoing effort to make Westview a true community center — a place where learning, growth, and connection extend beyond the school day.
We hope to see many of our Wildcat parents join us for this exciting new session!
💜 Together, we learn. Together, we grow. Together, we are Westview!
Safety Protocols
New Transportation Badge System
Beginning this month, the PfISD Transportation Department will introduce a new Transportation Badge System for students who ride the school bus. This system is designed to make transportation even safer and more efficient for our Wildcats.
Students who ride the bus will receive a new ID badge from the transportation department. They will simply scan their badge when getting on and off the bus, allowing district staff to ensure students are always on the correct bus and helping families stay informed. This system helps prevent mix-ups and gives everyone greater peace of mind—nothing more, and nothing to worry about.
These new badges are multi-purpose, too! Students will be able to:
-
Access breakfast and lunch in the cafeteria
-
Check out books in the library
-
Wear the badge daily as part of our regular school ID expectations
If your child does not ride the bus, they will continue using their current school badge, and no changes are needed.
We appreciate your partnership as we roll out this helpful system that supports student safety and smooth daily routines for all.
No Food Deliveries from Restaurant Food
As a reminder, restaurant food deliveries are not allowed during the school day. If you would like your child to enjoy a meal from a restaurant, you are welcome to:
-
Sign your student out and enjoy lunch with them off campus, or
-
Join them at our picnic tables in front of the school.
After lunch, students can be signed back in to continue their school day.
Parents are always welcome to bring homemade lunches for their students. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and structured learning environment!
Check Your Student's Grades
Monitoring Student Progress
As we approach the final stretch of the semester—with just five weeks remaining—we want to remind all families of the importance of checking your student’s grades regularly. Staying informed about your child’s academic progress helps ensure they receive the support and encouragement they need to finish the semester strong.
If you have any questions or concerns about your student’s grades, please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to their teachers. Our staff is always happy to partner with families to support student success.
If you are unsure how to access your child’s grades online, please call the Westview Middle School main office at (512) 594-2200—we are happy to help!
Every day matters, and together we can help our Wildcats stay on track for a strong finish to the semester!

Community Spotlight: Trompo Network Showcases WVMS Volleyball!
We are thrilled to highlight a truly special community partnership that has brought new energy and excitement to Westview athletics! The Robledo family, through their local initiative Trompo Network, has been producing and livestreaming our Westview Middle School volleyball games — capturing the heart, talent, and teamwork of our amazing student-athletes.
Led by Mr. and Mrs. Robledo, with support from Coach Jaimie Ochoa, Trompo Network has created high-quality, ESPN-style coverage of our volleyball matches that families across the community have loved watching and sharing. This effort began simply — with a parent’s desire to celebrate their daughter’s team — and has grown into a powerful example of community pride and partnership.
So far, Trompo Network has covered exciting matchups such as:
-
Westview vs. Kelly Lane
-
Westview vs. Bohls
-
Westview vs. Dessau
You can view these games and more highlights on the Trompo Network YouTube Channel — it truly feels like watching ESPN!
We are so grateful to the Robledo family for their time, talent, and dedication to uplifting Westview athletics, and to Coach Ochoa for leading such an inspiring program. Their collaboration beautifully reflects what makes our Wildcat community so special — teamwork, pride, and a shared commitment to our students’ success both on and off the court.
We invite all families to take a moment to check out the highlight reels and cheer on our Wildcats — you’ll be amazed by the energy and excitement of our volleyball program!
2nd Nine Week Assessments
Cumulative STAAR-Based Exams – Week of December 15th
During the week of December 15th, all students will participate in our Cumulative STAAR-Based Exams. These assessments are an important part of our instructional process and help us monitor student progress as we prepare for the official spring STAAR exams. We will release the schedule for exams for this week in the newsletter next week.
📝 What to Expect
-
Students will take no more than two exams per day.
-
All students will take:
-
An RLA exam during their RLA class
-
A Math exam during their math class
-
-
Each exam is designed to take no longer than 90 minutes.
-
8th grade students will also take exams in Science and Social Studies.
📊 Why These Exams Matter
The results from these assessments play a key role in helping teachers and staff determine which supports, interventions, and enrichment opportunities each student may need for the upcoming nine-week period. This ensures that every Wildcat is fully prepared for success on the spring STAAR exams.
✔️ How Families Can Help
Please encourage your child to:
-
Get a good night’s sleep
-
Arrive on time each day
-
Do their very best on each assessment
If you have questions about your child's progress or would like more information, please contact your child’s teacher—they are always happy to help. If you are unsure of whom to speak with, feel free to call our main office, and we will connect you with the right person.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership and support. Together, we help every Wildcat thrive!
Update from Fine Arts
Westview Symphonic and Wind Ensemble Winter Concert
Our Westview Symphonic and Wind Ensemble Bands delivered an absolutely beautiful Winter Concert on Friday evening! Each ensemble performed with incredible precision, musicality, and confidence. I was truly impressed by the level of expertise our student musicians displayed—it is clear how dedicated they are to their craft.
Our band directors also did an exceptional job preparing the students and organizing such a professional and polished performance. It was a wonderful evening of music and celebration of our arts programs.
Mr. Martinez and I even had the chance to join in as narrators for a couple of selections, and we loved being part of the group! Thank you to everyone who attended and supported our Wildcats. We are so proud of our Fine Arts students and staff for continuing to enrich our campus with their talents.
Attendance Matters
Help your child perform at their highest level this year! 🏫✨
- Our Year to Date Attendance is 93.2%.
- 6th Grade = 94.2%
- 7th Grade = 92.5.%
- 8th Grade = 92.6%
- Try to schedule doctor and dentist appointments after school or in the afternoon so your child can be counted present.
- Every school day matters—just a few missed days can add up quickly.
Thank you for partnering with us to make every day count for your child’s success! 💙
Tardy Consequences
⏰ Tardy Update: Way to Go, Wildcats!
We’re proud to share that our students have been doing a much better job getting to class on time! Thank you to all of our families for supporting this effort — your partnership makes a big difference. When students arrive to class promptly, they are more engaged, prepared, and ready to learn from bell to bell.
While we’re celebrating this progress, please remember that we are still issuing consequences for excessive tardies according to our campus Tardy Consequence Ladder:
3Level 1 Warning 6Level 2 Warning 91 Day After-School Detention 122 Days After-School Detention + Parent Conference 15 or more1 Day of In-School Suspension (ISS)
