Students and Staff Member of the Week!

We want to give a BIG shout out to our three students of the week and our staff member of the week! In the month of April our behavior focus is being CREATIVE. These students were selected by a staff member because they are so creative.

Our 6th grade student of the week is Malayah Piaz selected by Ms. Lux.

Our 7th grade student of the week is Aubrey Singles selected by Mr. Junglas.

And our 8th grade student of the week is Madison Pierson selected by Mr. Kupovits.

Each one of the students was allowed to choose a staff member here at FMS that best displays the behavior focus of the month. The three staff members selected were…

1. Ms. Lux selected by Malayah

2. Ms. Schutte selected by Aubrey

3. And Ms. Corinne selected by Madison

We put all three names in a drawing and pulled the winning staff member’s name for the week. This week’s staff member of the week is…… MS. SCHUTTE!

Congratulations to all of the students of the week and the staff member of the week! The spotlight will be on you all this week on WFMS and around FMS!

Visitor Rules

Thank you, Franklin families, for your patience and adherence to our new visitor protocol. As a reminder:

  • A valid ID must be shown at the front door for entry to the building. There are no alternatives to this protocol. If you do not have a form of ID, you will not be permitted into the building.
  • It is important to maintain your student's emergency contacts, especially if your student needs to be picked up early. Please visit https://sisweb.resa.net/ParentPortal/ to make any necessary changes.
  • Students may be picked up early through 2:20pm. There are no early dismissals after 2:20pm.
  • Appointments will be necessary to speak to staff regarding concerns. Please call the school office at (734) 419-2400 to schedule an appointment.

Thank you for following these district-wide rules.

Important Reminder: Student Safety & Prohibited Items

We would like to remind families that students are not permitted to bring toys, stuffed animals, or blankets to school, as they are distracting to the educational process. In addition, to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, we want to remind families that students are not permitted to sell or distribute any items at school, including food, snacks, drinks, candy, or other goods.

  • First offense: Items will be confiscated, and a parent/guardian will be contacted to pick up the items.

  • Second offense: Items will be confiscated, and the student will receive a suspension.

In addition, students must not bring illegal substances or prohibited items to school for the purpose of selling, distributing, or personal use. This includes, but is not limited to, vapes, weed pens, THC products, gummies, or any other controlled substances. Possession, use, or distribution of these items is illegal and strictly prohibited.

Disciplinary consequences will begin with suspension and may escalate to a required disciplinary hearing. Please note that our campus is a drug-free zone, and families may also face citations or legal consequences in accordance with state law.

We also strongly remind students never to accept or consume items from others, especially if the item is not a clearly labeled, store-bought product in its original packaging. For example, students should never take or eat unwrapped or unlabeled candy or food items. This is a critical safety measure.

We appreciate your partnership in reinforcing these expectations at home to help us maintain a safe and healthy school environment for all students.

Parking Lot Updates

You may have noticed our parking lot got an update over spring break! It is now abundantly clear that parking is not permitted along this drive, as this is area is reserved for our special education busses. Please do not park in this area or use this area to drop off students. Please use the main loop drop off area.

Introducing: Pay Online!

As we proceed through the school year, we wanted to remind Franklin Families that the end of year activities are coming up fast! If your student is interested in anything from the 8th Grade Bundle (see above for more info), please make sure you are making payments towards these events. This helps us understand how many tickets to purchase, how many busses we'll need, how many t-shirts to order, etc.

In addition, we now have online payment availability! Please click here to pay online.

To purchase everything, select: 8th Grade Bundle. This includes the yearbook, breakfast on the last day of school, Cedar Point, a ticket to the dance, and the t-shirt.

If your student is only interested in some of the activities, you can pay for them individually online as well. Please call our main office if you have any questions.

Tiered System of Support

We use a tiered system of support to address student conflicts, concerns and behavior:

  • Behavior Coordinators: Mrs. Akerley (6th grade) and Mr. Richmond (7th/8th grade) are the first point of contact.

  • Positive Behavior Interventionist: Mr. Stockman supports all three grades and oversees our behavior team.

  • Counselors & Social Workers: For social skills, friendships, or mental health concerns, please reach out to our counselors—Mrs. Thomas (A–K last names) or Ms. Fuqua (L–Z last names). Our social workers, Ms. Davis and Ms. Truesdell, are also available to support students and families.

  • Academic Concerns: Please email or Dojo your child’s teachers directly. If the concern is unresolved then reach out to administration.

  • Special Education: For questions related to special education, contact our Teacher Consultant, Mrs. Renae Daniels. She will direct you to the correct person.
