Easter 2025
Fingal League Finalists 2025
After a convincing win in Swords during the week, we are delighted to announce that the girls have reached the Fingal League final for the second year in a row. They will now get a chance to play in Parnell Park on either the 13th or 15th of May 2025.
Well done to Ms. Pidgeon, Anto Kelly, and all involved with St. Monica's GAA Club who have moulded the girls into highly determined, motivated and skillful players. The teamwork that they have shown throughout this campaign has been equally as impressive.
We will be bringing as many children as possible to the final in May and will let you know the details after the Easter break. Thanks for all your support!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
Bhí daltaí na scoile go hiontach ag labhairt na gaeilge le linn seachtain na gaeilge! Bhí go leor eachtraí ar siúl i ngach rang - damhsaí gaelacha, tráth na gceist, cluichí, amhrán agus rabhlóga. Bhí tionól agus céilí againn ar an Aoine nuair a bhí gach duine gléasta suas i nglas, bán agus oráiste.
Comhghairdeas dóibh siúd a bhuaigh gaelgóir na seachtaine!
Rang a Dó: Michaela Berney Mahon
Rang a Trí: Izzy Stacey
Rang a Ceathair: Jessica Fitzpatrick Byrne
Rang a Cúig: Sofia Ferreira
Rang a Sé: Kayleigh Foster Cooling
World Book Day
As well as this, we had a very successful book swap thanks to your generous donations of books. Special thanks to Ms. Bleheen for organising our book swap.
We also started our ‘bring a book, take a book’ shelf which encourages children to swap books throughout the year.
Reading is such an important skill to develop so we encourage all our pupils to read as much as they can at home.
Reducing Screen Time
Below are some simple screen-time rules that you can have in your home to make sure your child is not spending too much time looking at a screen and that they are kept safe while they are using a device:
- Real-life conversations – Make sure your child is talking to friends in real-life and never just on phone messaging platforms.
- One screen, one time – This means they are only watching TV or on their phone but not the two at the same time.
- Time limits – There are clear guidelines around when the phone can be used, for example- no phones between 8pm and 8am.
- Overnight boundaries – Everyone must agree that all devices stay out of children’s bedrooms overnight.
- Phone checks – You will be checking their screen-time on their phones/tablets from time to time to check that they are not spending too much time on their device and that they are safe, respected and respectful in their usage. It is a good idea to do this with them and not behind their back.
We also recommend monitoring how much time your child is spending on their phone if they have one. This is easily done by going into 'settings' on any smart phone.

2nd Class
2nd Class has been having great fun the last few weeks in school! We have been taking part in athletics, GAA, skipping and much more! We haven't just been having fun, we have been working hard also! Our glue sticks quit because they said we weren’t using them properly, but we used our persuasive writing skills to write them a letter and they came back.
We have been creative as well, making hot air balloons and some green fields for Seachtain na Gaeilge. Seachtain na Gaeilge was a busy week, with table quizzes, poems, performances and even some Irish dancing with 6th class thanks to Ms. O’Rourke. We have been working really hard practicing for our First Holy Communion, singing songs and making lovely artwork. We were fantastic during our First Confession and we are very proud of ourselves!
We have been working really hard on our maths, especially during measures month where Ms. Heffernan and Ms. O’Donovan organised lovely activities for us all around Edenmore. We were lucky enough to have some parents come in and play some games with us during Maths4Fun. Thank you to everyone who came and to Ms. Nolan for all their hard work. The good weather has made it possible for us to have lots of fun in the sun and we really enjoyed our spring clean when we tidied up around our school. We will continue to do our part for our local area, using our picker pals!
We have been very busy in the run up to Easter, baking and organising for the Easter Fair. We want to say thank you to everyone who bought our tickets and helped us to bake the lovely goodies that we brought into school. We hope you all enjoy your Easter holidays because we know we will!!
With Love, 2nd Class
3rd Class
4th Class
What a lovely month it’s been in 4th Class! We have been super lucky having been on so many exciting trips in March. We attended the Science Blast in the RDS where we got to showcase our investigation all about Diet Coke and Mentos. It was a brilliant day. We got to view a special showing of the musical Grease Lightning in Chanel College. It was an amazing performance. We had great fun in Maths as it was measures month. Using our trundle wheels we measured a walking distance of 1km between St Eithnes and Tesco, Kilbarrack.
Throughout March we also learned Shake it Off as Gaeilge to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. We honoured the diversity of the amazing girls in our school through our International Women’s Day art project. We learned all about Ramadan with the help of our lovely three 4th Class ladies who celebrate. We are very excited to have also finished our second class novel of the year, 'Because of Winn Dixie'. We can’t wait to read the next.
We are looking forward to another great month ahead.
5th Class
We were so lucky in 5th class to have Ms. Nolan teach our class for 3 weeks. We did lots of fun drama, art and music activities.
Alongside this, we celebrated World Book Day and enjoyed dressing up as our favourite characters. We showed off our Irish during Seachtain na Gaeilge too.
Most recently, we made rain gauges in science to measure rain fall. We hope to check them in a week or two to see how many millimeters of rainfall we have had. This is a great way to end measures month.
6th Class
During the month of March, our classroom was full of different activities, including a Dragon’s Den presentation for our JEP Project, a Spring Clean as part of our Green Schools Initiative, building bridges for Engineering Week, ag ceiliúradh le roinnt gníomhaíochtaí don Seachtain na Gaeilge and learning about measures in maths for Measures month!
March also saw the start of the Fingal League for the GAA team. The girls were super excited to get back to representing St.Eithne’s on the pitch and we were all excited to cheer them on. They’ve won four out of four matches so far, including a semi-final! We are bursting with excitement and cannot wait to see them be superstars at the final in Parnell Park in May!
We’re looking forward to launching our JEP Project at the Easter Fair this week and taking a well-deserved break over the Easter holidays after all our hard work this term!
