MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Greetings Lindblom Eagles community,
I enjoy visiting classrooms and observing our students as they engage in lessons that highlight the importance of communication, collaboration, differentiation, and the implementation of strategies aligned with our CLRT's focus on achieving academic success for all students. Our students are carrying the cognitive load across all content areas and engaging in complex thinking while respectfully discussing the concept within their groups and drawing on evidence from their lived experiences.

CPS Spring Parent Survey
CPS Spring Parent Survey will ask parents to share their perspectives on school culture and climate, as well as school building needs. If at least 25% of our parents/guardians complete the culture and climate portion of the survey, we will receive a report on this data to help guide your future planning: cps.edu/parentsurvey. The survey officially opens on March 18, 2026.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
BE SUPPORTIVE
Union League Boys and Girls Club Partnership
Lindblom is partnering with the Union League Boys and Girls Club to provide free programming to Lindblom students. We are in the early stages of developing this partnership, but we are excited about the possibilities. We will share more details as they develop.
As part of the partnership, we are asking for all Lindblom families to complete a Union League Boys and Girls Club Membership Form for their student(s). Completing this form allows your student(s) to participate in ULBGC activities both at Lindblom and at the Club. Here is the link to complete the form.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Devon Yurko from the ULBGC:

GSA Activism
GSA invites all students to participate in the National Day of Silence. This event asks students to be silent for the whole day to represent the silencing of queer and minority voices in mainstream society and culture. Students who sign up through the QR code on the attached flyer will receive a kit with cards to explain their participation.
BE INCLUSIVE
Brave Space Alliance
Brave Space Alliance invites youth ages 13 to 17-year-old an outlet to connect with your peers, eat some hot food & sip on some cold drinks, while you release some stress and learn some new life skills once a month with their youth group called On My Soul! The meetings will be led by co-facilitators Jahiem & Ms. KeKe at Vogue University.
Students who attend will also learn about the PFLAG Beverly-Morgan Park chapter. Cool fact: this is a national organization with the first and only chapter on the south side of Chicago that supports and provides an outlet for Queer residents and their families, a safe and friendly space to build community. Stop by their table to sign up for reminders and information for your friends and family! We got a lot of exciting things happening this year!
After School Tutoring
A list of our after school tutoring is being shared for your awareness. Feel free to email the teacher listed as a follow-up.
BE CHALLENGED
CTA Summer Internship
On behalf of The Chicago Transit Authority, we wanted to share information about our 7-week paid summer internship program. Attached you will find a flyer with details and where to apply. Applications are open and interviews have started until we reach capacity. This year we will hire 300 high school students.
We'd like to highlight that CTA offers Dual Enrollment through CCC as a paid work experience. Our interns take the class, get paid for the summer, and receive 3 college credit hours upon successful completion of all assigned course work.
BE EMPOWERED
LOV Club at Lindblom
LOV Club students at Lindblom decorated hearts with their names and then took turns writing positive notes on one another’s hearts. The activity was a beautiful way to spread love, encouragement, and positivity throughout the group.
BE LEADERS
Student Spotlight
The mission of the Resident Association of Greater Englewood (R.A.G.E) is to create tangible solutions and mobilize residents and resources to restore our community. Several our our students served as panelist for the R.A.G.E. Re-Up Our Future Series, a youth development and post-secondary exploration program for the 8th graders at Mays ES.
Shout out to our students for speaking to 8th graders about their high school experience!
Congratulations to Yusuf Maguire who has been selected as a 2025-26 Arabic Speaking Competition winner for North America! The judges were very impressed with his presentation, and his entry stood out in this year's competitive entry pool.
Congratulations to Lindblom's Varsity Science Olympiad team, Innovative Eagles! They competed Saturday in the CPS Regional Competition. In just two months the team increased our events from 17 to 21 and placed in 3 events up from 1 at the January Invitational.
Shout out to: Carlos Martinez and John Nettles - 4th in Water Quality at the Invitational, Carlos Martinez and Jazmyn Blackburn - 3rd in Bungee Drop at Regional, Brenden Wells and Regan McAlphine - 3rd in Robot Tour at Regional, Keon Carter and Shaun Tharpe - 4th in Hovercraft at Regional
We would like to thank everyone who helped us start this team and grow it in a very short amount of time: the admin team, our Baxter partners, the students, the parents, Ms. Levites, Mx. Dirr, Omar Arteaga, and Samira Rawls, best student manager ever.
Congratulations to Morgan Cannon and Aniya Bass for moderating our first Women's History Month Panel! They were able to pull together an audience and facilitate conversations ranging from our AC females to our seniors. Kudos to our students for their poised behavior and active engagement with our panel of wonderful women. This was all made possible through our Restorative Justice Lead, Ms. Brown.
Congratulations to Tyler McKinily! She was awarded for Excellence in Engineering through Project Syncere for her outstanding accomplishments in engineering. Her achievements reflect the dedication, curiosity, and perseverance in the work as emerging leaders in STEM.
Robotics Achievements
Hello robot fans!
This past month has yielded some amazing accomplishments from our robotics teams. The JV robotics teams, maroon and gold, both qualified for state at the League Championship. The maroon team won the motivate award and the gold team won the inspire second place. Both teams competed at the state championship and a great time was had by all, including the robots.
Lindblom's varsity team, 1781 Electric Eagles, traveled to Rochester New York. The food was garbage but we had a great time anyways. (Look up Rochester garbage plate if you wonder why.) The team performed excellently bringing home the sustainability award.
We look forward to the Midwest regional March 27th and 28th at the Forest View Educational Center in Arlington Heights! The event is free and open to the public.

JROTC Military Ball
Our annual Military Ball was superb! It was a student-led event, and I must admit, they did an amazing job of emceeing. We had a parent volunteer as our DJ, and she was absolutely amazing. How do we top this for the next year???
Chicago Youth Works
We are excited to announce that the Chicago Youth Works (CYW) application portal is now open. Chicago Youth Works — formerly One Summer Chicago — reflects the City’s continued investment in expanding youth employment opportunities and strengthening pathways to long-term career success for Chicago’s young people.
Under Mayor Brandon Johnson’s leadership, the City has significantly expanded youth employment opportunities, connecting more young people to meaningful work experiences across Chicago. The Chicago Youth Works name places youth at the center of the initiative while reinforcing that employment opportunities are available throughout the year, not only during the summer months.
The Mayor announced yesterday the City's goal is to hire 29,000 young people (ages 14-24) through paid summer opportunities. Similar to last year we fully expect to exceed that goal. The application deadline is May 29, and we encourage youth to apply early to increase their chances of receiving a job offer.
Interested youth can apply online at ChicagoYouthWorks.org. Applicants will receive bi-weekly updates with reminders, resources, and interview notifications throughout the application period.
Youth ages 14-15 will have access to stipend paid opportunities while youth and young adults ages 16-24 will be paid an hourly wage.
You will begin to see the Chicago Youth Works branding and logo across all platforms and materials as the program transitions from the One Summer Chicago name.
Summer employment will be a minimum of 6 weeks starting in June and conclude in late July or early August, depending on the employer the young person is hired through.
CYW Contact Information
As part of the transition to Chicago Youth Works, we have launched new CYW email addresses and social media accounts.
X/Twitter: x.com/chiyouthworks
Instagram: instagram.com/chiyouthworks
These accounts are now live and reflected on our website and outreach materials.
Chicago Youth Works represents more than a name change — it reflects our commitment to expanding access to opportunity and connecting Chicago’s young people to meaningful experiences and career pathways.
Thank you for helping us ensure more Chicago youth can access these opportunities.

ALL BALL Performers
Congratulations to the performers at the ALL BALL! Students expressed having an amazing time and are interested in performing for the next one.
March Madness
This is the last week of Lindblom's March Madness. This is your time to tell a friend to come to school and attend all of their classes.
Why would you do this? Because that's what good friends do.....
If that's not good enough of a reason, then do it because your entire grade-level could win some new SWAG. They could win a VIP party. They could improve their attendance enough to participate in the upcoming events that are being planned. There are tons of reasons!!!!
Attendance Matters
REMINDERS: Students and families will receive detention notifications by email. Students will serve detention on Tuesday and/or Thursday from 3:15 - 4:15. If you have questions about attendance, feel free to email bdhayes2@cps.edu.
