Happy Kindness Week! Across the district, our staff and students are celebrating kindness with dress-up days, hands-on activities and more. I am so proud of our district’s focus on this important topic, and know that the lessons learned this week will stick with our students for years to come.

We celebrated some exciting news last month, as we were named one of the top employers in the state of Texas. All of the credit goes to our staff, and I am so proud of their outstanding work. I know many of you are looking for more opportunities to acknowledge your child’s teachers and administrators, and we are excited to unveil a new initiative that will help you do so. Keep reading to learn more about Recognize SomeONE, a district-wide recognition program to highlight our fantastic staff.

There are quite a few input opportunities included in this month’s Rapport, and I hope you’ll take the time to make your voice heard. Our 2023-24 Academic Calendar Survey is live, and we are asking all staff and families to complete it. This feedback is crucial to make sure we are meeting the needs of both students and staff with our yearly calendar, through an evaluation of starting/ending dates, holidays and more. We’re also collecting names through our new District Collaboration Interest Form for those interested in joining our many committees here at LISD. These committees are avenues we rely on to make important decisions for our district, and we hope you’ll learn more about them by visiting lisd.net/committees.

I am so encouraged by the amazing things happening all around the district, and can’t wait to see what the rest of this year will bring. Thanks for everything you do to support #OneLISD!

Campus Profiles

In August, TEA released its annual ratings of schools. Our district has long believed scores on standardized tests do not define a student or a school, but serve as one piece of information in a much larger academic picture. With that in mind, I want to be sure you know about our campus profiles, which we believe offer a much more complete overview of the achievements of our students, staff and campuses. Access the profiles HERE.
