Cafeteria Behavior
Our 1st–4th grade students have been working hard to show responsibility and respect during lunch! To celebrate their positive behavior, we’ve started a new Lunchroom Incentive Program. Each week, classes earn points for demonstrating excellent lunchroom behavior. The top classes are rewarded with a special Fun Friday experience.
So far, students have enjoyed two Fun Fridays with choices like lunch outside, movies on the big screen, or music during lunch. Kindergarten will continue practicing their lunch routines and will join in during the second half of the school year.
To help everyone succeed, here are our Café Rules:
-
Use walking feet at all times.
-
Stay in your seat.
-
KAHFOOTY – Keep All Hands, Feet, and Other Objects To Yourself (this includes food!).
-
Use your manners – say please and thank you.
-
Save all bathroom trips or trips to the nurse for before or after lunch.
🎉 Congratulations to last week’s winning classes: Mrs. Beerman, Ms. Thurston, Mrs. Brunjes, and Ms. Titter's classes! We are proud of their hard work and teamwork in the cafeteria!
🥳 Congratulations to this week’s cafeteria winners: Mrs. Schmidt, Mrs. Gaines, Ms. Murray, and a tie between Ms. Titter's and Mrs. Short’s classes! Way to go, everyone!
Attendance
🙌 And while we are celebrating more success… Mrs. Beerman’s class earned their CHIEFS letters for the second time to enjoy extra Chromebook time, AND they also earned Attendance CHIEFS letters! Way to go, Beerman’s class!
Why Good Attendance Matters
Consistent attendance is one of the most important factors in your child’s success at school. When students are here every day, they:
Build stronger connections with classmates and teachers
Stay on track with learning and avoid falling behind
Develop responsibility and good habits for the future
Have more opportunities to participate in fun celebrations like CHIEFS!
Beanstack Online Reading Log
We have set a schoolwide goal of 1,000,000 minutes read!
...and we are well on our way!
Great start Chiefs!
Our librarian is introducing students to Beanstack, a fun and interactive program that helps kids track their reading. Students can log the books they read, earn digital badges, and take part in reading challenges throughout the year. It’s a great way to build excitement around reading and celebrate progress along the way!
Vision and Hearing Screenings
Our Zitzman Elementary nursing staff will be conducting vision and hearing screenings on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
If your child’s results show any concerns, you will receive a notification letter with more information. If you prefer that your child not participate in the screenings, please contact our school nurse.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your child’s health and learning!

Immunizations
State regulations require all students to be compliant with immunization requirements in order to attend school. Students who are not compliant by October 1, 2025 will be excluded from school until the proper documentation is provided.
Our school nurse will be sending home a list by Friday if your child is not currently in compliance. Please know we have made multiple reminders beginning last school year through summer communications, registrations, open houses, emails, phone calls, and letters.
A student is considered compliant in one of the following four ways:
-
An up-to-date vaccine record turned in to the school nurse
-
An “In Progress” note from a doctor or health department with a confirmed future appointment for required vaccines
-
A medical exemption from a doctor
-
A religious exemption form
To support families, the Franklin County Health Department will be holding a vaccine clinic at PHS and Riverbend on September 26, 2025, from 9:00–11:00 a.m.
-
Parents do not need to attend the clinic in person, but a signed consent form must be turned in ahead of time.
-
Consent forms are due now if you would like your child to participate in this clinic.
Please reach out to our school nurse with any questions or to confirm your child’s compliance status.

💜 Mrs. Lee’s Legacy of Love T-Shirt Sale 💜
We are honored to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Rhonda Lee, a beloved 2nd-grade teacher at Zitzman Elementary. Known for her joyful spirit, her love of reading, and the way she made every child feel valued, Mrs. Lee’s impact continues to shine through two special projects:
- The Legacy of Love Scholarship – awarded each spring to a Pacific High School senior pursuing education
- Mrs. Lee’s Outdoor Classroom – creating a beautiful learning space at Zitzman with shade and privacy fencing
From September 2–22, you can purchase a t-shirt to support these initiatives. All profits stay right here in our community.
Two shirt options available:
- Zitzman Shirt – ZE logo on the front + Legacy of Love design on the back
- District Shirt – Pacific “P” with MVNation Stronger Together, honoring families touched by breast cancer

From me to you...
Dear Zitzman Families,
Our school is in full swing, and the excitement in our classrooms and hallways makes it clear—we are ready to rock and roll! Each day, teachers, staff, and families come together with one shared purpose: the kids. Everything we do, every effort we make, is rooted in helping our students grow into the very best versions of themselves.
One of the most powerful ways we can make that happen is through open communication and a positive mindset. When we talk openly, listen to one another, and work together as a team, we create a strong support system around our students. They see us modeling respect, collaboration, and encouragement—skills that will carry them far beyond school.
Our students are capable of incredible things, and when they know the adults in their lives are working together and cheering them on, they rise to heights they may not have thought possible.
That is the heart of our work: giving every child the tools, confidence, and opportunities to shine.
Thank you for being our partners in this journey. Your support, trust, and positivity make all the difference. Together, we will continue to help every student RISE to be their very best self!
Leading & learning,
Dr. Sladek
