Lockdown Drill - October 21
Earlier today we conducted a lockdown drill as part of our review of emergency plans and training. The goal of this practice is to make sure students and staff feel prepared and know what to do in the event of an emergency. Some of the language teachers use to explain this type of drill to students includes:
- We practice safety drills in addition to fire drills. This drill is to practice being safe in the building.
- This drill could also be used if there was a stray animal or adult without a visitor badge in the building.
- We all need to know what to do and where to go if this type of emergency happens when you are not with your classroom teacher.
We understand that these types of drills may cause some anxiety/worry and bring up big feelings in our young students. Teachers have de-briefed with their students following the practice and have provided reassurance to our kids.
Please know that our number one priority each and every day is to keep all of our staff, students and community safe. The following resource from the American Association of School Psychologists may be helpful in speaking with your children.
Red Ribbon Week 2025
During the week of October 27th-31st NPE will raise student awareness about healthy choices as we recognize The 3 to Be at NPE and celebrate Red Ribbon Week. We will emphasize how students can be Safe, be Respectful, and make Responsible choices as part of our anti-drug and healthy choices campaign. Halloween Parade
NPE’s annual Halloween Parade will be held on Friday, October 31. The procession of classes will begin at approximately 9:05 AM on our back field. Grades K-2 will process first, followed by Grades 3-5 at approximately 9:15 AM.
Parents are welcome to join on the outside of the cones marking the parade area. Each class will process around the field twice before returning inside the building. Kindergarten families will receive a separate communication with specific plans for AM and PM Kindergarten.
We ask that parents use your best judgment about your child’s choice of costume. However, as always, NO GUNS OR OTHER TOY WEAPONS may be carried.
Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in this matter. Families who do not wish their child to participate in the parade should contact the classroom teacher via email or note, so we are able to make alternative arrangements. Thank you!!
