The 40th METCO Directors Conference was a two-day event held on Thursday, December 5th, and Friday, December 6th, 2024. This gathering brought together educators from across the state who are dedicated to supporting the academic achievement of students in the METCO Program. The conference featured Dr. Kalise Wornum as the keynote speaker, delivering an inspiring message aligned with this year's theme, "Still Worth the Ride." Through workshops, discussions, and networking opportunities, participants engaged in meaningful conversations about equity, access, and student success

We celebrated the 100th Day of school on February 5. Many fun activities were planned including decorating t-shirts and a fashion show in Kindergarten, counting 100 objects and writing about their collections in grade 1.

Kindergarteners at Boyden had a surprise visit to celebrate the Lunar New Year, everyone loved the story and were so happy to receive a special red envelope to signify good luck for the new year.

ST Math: Look who completed 100%. Way to go!

Everyone is working hard on their individual journey’s with a goal to complete 80% or higher by June.

This week, we held the Term 2 Awards Ceremony for the middle school, recognizing students for their achievements. A special congratulations to one of our eighth-grade students who had the opportunity to share her experience as a METCO student during the ceremony.

Keep up the great work!

Our middle school students have been making great use of the METCO space after school! On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they focus on homework and academic support, creating a productive and collaborative environment. Thursdays bring a fun change of pace, where students can unwind by playing board games, Uno, or enjoying time in the gym.

Most of our high school METCO students are meeting twice a month with Ms. Atisha and Mrs. Austin for Multicultural Alliance, fostering important conversations and connections. In March, these students will have the exciting opportunity to visit the elementary school to work with younger students.

Additionally, as winter sports wrap up, we look forward to the start of spring sports in mid-March.

Be on the lookout for a Google Form to sign up for the Walpole METCO & Friends Bowling Event on March 28th! The form will be sent out soon, so stay tuned for more details.

We hope to see all METCO elementary families there!
