Kia ora e te whānau, and welcome to the second newsletter of 2024.

We kicked off the week with an extraordinary start as Tuesday marked Waitangi Day. We hope you had the opportunity to enjoy this special day with your whānau and friends, soaking up the sunshine and celebrating together. The school is buzzing with positivity and happiness while our students and teachers settle nicely back into routine.

Looking ahead, we're excited about our upcoming Vogeltown Adventure next week. This annual event on Friday the 16th of February will see our entire school busing to Pukaka (Marsland) Hill to explore and learn about our local environment. We will cap off the day with a scenic hikoi (walk) along the Huatoki River back to Vogeltown School. If you haven't already, please ensure you fill in and return the permission slip to school, either in paper form or via Skool Loop.

We would also love your input! If you have a spare moment, please take the time to complete the Mahi Tahi community survey. Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us and helps us continue to improve and grow as a school community.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in your child's education. Together, we're creating a vibrant and thriving learning environment for our tamariki.

Aroha nui,

Mrs Seed and the Vogeltown team

Come along and join us for our annual ‘Whānau Fun Fiesta’. This will be held at the Senior school on Wednesday 21st February from 5pm - 7pm.

There will be food for sale on the night: sausage sizzle, burgers, pizza, vege nachos, hot chips, desserts, popcorn, ice blocks and drinks. Even some fun activities: Horizontal bungee, bouncy castle, tug o war and sack races.

We are asking all families to donate baked goods for our very popular cake stall. On Monday 19th February, the eldest child from each family will be given a plate to take home and return with some lovely baking on the day of the ‘Whanau Fun Fiesta’.

We are really looking forward to this wonderful community event and hope to see you all there.

SUNSMART! SUNSMART!

At Vogeltown School we ask that all of our students wear a wide rim bucket style hat.

Any bucket style hat is fine to wear, however we do have some awesome Vogeltown hats available at the Senior side office for $17. Please name your hats, as sometimes they do go 'walkabouts'.

If your child does not have a hat at school, they will be asked to play in the shade.

Have a look at our super sunsmart Vogeltowners!

ROAD PATROL ROAD PATROL

zoom_out_map

We are incredibly fortunate to have a group of dedicated student volunteers who assist with our Road Patrol duties. These responsible students help ensure the safety of our school community during busy times on our street.

Our student Road Patrol operates during the following times:

  • Morning road patrol: 8:20 am - 9:00 am
  • Afternoon road patrol: 2:50 pm - 3:15 pm

Their presence is invaluable in facilitating safe crossings for everyone. To support their efforts, we kindly ask that students arrive at school from 8:20 am in the morning.

Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing support.

Mr George

VOGELTOWN SCHOOL FEES/DONATION VOGELTOWN SCHOOL FEES/DONATION

zoom_out_map

A reminder to everyone that we do not ask for a school donation/fee at Vogeltown School. The Vogeltown Board opted in to the Ministry of Education donation scheme for 2024, which means we get paid a donation from the government and we do not ask families to contribute to any 'curriculum related' costs - including transport and events like Life Education.

More information can be found on the Ministry of Education's website.
