🌟 Exciting Things Happening at MHS! 🌟
What an incredible week at MHS! We wrapped up the 2nd six weeks with a perfect day at Meridian State Park—enjoying the beauty of nature, fishing, hiking, and spending time together outside the classroom. Days like that remind me how special our students truly are. Their kindness, enthusiasm, and teamwork made the trip one to remember.
As we close out this grading period, I just want to say how proud I am of every single student. Watching them grow, learn, and take pride in who they are fills me with gratitude every day. I am so blessed to be their principal and to be part of this amazing community.
Here’s to another great six weeks ahead—full of learning, laughter, and MHS pride!
From Coach L. Schur:
"Here’s a class project that my pre-calculus and algebra 2 students did last week.
They took advantage of free application week the previous week then created a hoodie representing the college, trade school, military branch, or specific work force path that they plan to go to after graduation. They had to include specific details of the school/branch/career and some even added elements representing the course of studies that they plan to pursue."
From Ms. Carpenter:
"I love being able to taking the students of MHS hiking at Meridian State Park. If I could do this hiking thing with students as my forever job, I would be one happy lady."
From Dr. Paceley:
"This was a fantastic week at MHS. It's weeks like this that remind me why I love being in Meridian so much. Here are a few pictures through my eyes and why I'm proud to be a Yellow Jacket!"

Responsibility
As we wrap up our focus on Responsibility, we’ve been encouraging students to show up, follow through, and be dependable—both in and out of the classroom. Responsibility isn’t about being perfect; it’s about trying your best and owning your choices.
💬 Parent Challenge:
At dinner this week, ask everyone to share one way they were responsible that day—big or small. Celebrate those moments together!
Together, we can model the habits that help our kids succeed not just in school, but in life. 🌟
🎓Senior Spotlights 🎓
**Note: Senior Spotlights will feature 2-3 Seniors per week in the newsletters. Students will be put in the newsletter in the order they are received. Reminder that students who do not submit photos will only have their bio posted. As of 10/31/2025, no other seniors have submitted their bios.**
The journey to graduation is filled with achievements, friendships, and unforgettable moments. Meridian High School is proud to shine a spotlight on this year’s seniors, celebrating their hard work, stories, and the bright futures ahead. Join us in recognizing the Class of 2026 — each week in our newsletter, we’ll share personal highlights and memories from our amazing seniors. Let’s honor their dedication and celebrate the start of their next adventure together!
Stay tuned for inspiring stories and help us cheer on the Class of 2026!
Katelyn Alejandra Ramirez
My name is Katelyn Alejandra Ramirez, most of my family call me “Keta”. I am the daughter of Laura Barcenas and Jimmy Ramirez. During my time at Meridian High School, I’ve been involved in cross country, volleyball, cheerleading, track, and Leadership. I have loved being part of these groups because they have helped me grow as a person and as a leader. I am proud to say I found my school family. While all of this is happening we make memories that I'll have forever. My favorite subject is Practicum ( Graphic Design), because I love to express my creativity. My favorite teacher is Mr. Dagley, he has always helped me to be a better person and he is also really funny.
The person that has influenced me the most is my mom. She has always been my biggest supporter and a role model. She has always pushed me to become a better person and taught me never to give in something that you love. The best advice I have gotten from my mom was “Trust yourself”. My friends would probably describe me as silly, bubbly, and thoughtful, and maybe a little sarcastic. I am mostly proud that our senior class has supported one another. We all have different goals in life but I do believe that we have a real sense of family at Meridian ISD.
🖤 MHS Hive Heart Volunteers 🖤
Volunteer Opportunities
11/03/25 - MISD Staff Breakfast (2 volunteers as of 11/02 -- Dr. Hosick and Cindy Denman)
11/10/25 - Decorate MHS for Veteran's Day and Thanksgiving from 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
11/20/25 - Organize food items for food bank (anytime during school day)
A fantastic idea from one of our parents: Meridian High is looking to launch a volunteer program—much like classroom moms but for our whole school! We’d love for parents or family members to help greet students, decorate hallways, make positive phone calls home, and support other school activities. This is a wonderful way to build connections and celebrate our students. Interested in joining the volunteer team or learning more? Let us know by filling out the form.
We will send out a monthly sign up sheet requesting volunteers for events happening at the school. Sign up for one or all. Anyone is welcome! Volunteer forms must be signed in order to participate during school hours.
Save the Date!
The Meridian High School Junior Class is gearing up for their upcoming Golf Scramble and is currently seeking local sponsors and donations to help make the event a success!
Starting Friday during jacket period, students in good standing will be visiting local businesses to request sponsorships. Each group is responsible for contacting at least two businesses.
If you or your business would like to support our students and this exciting event, please reach out to Coach Krueger or a member of the Junior Class.
Thank you for helping our Jackets continue to shine—both on and off the course! 💛🖤
