List of Clubs at ERMS List of Clubs at ERMS

Clubs and activities start on Wednesday, September 9th.

Activities held right after school occur from 3:30 to 4:45 pm with buses available on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for regular bus riders. To write the bus, your child needs to typically ride the bus home from ERMS. Please note: After-school bus stops are consolidated into two routes. Your child's after-school bus stop will likely be different than their normal bus stop. Please communicate with your child about which after-school stop is their stop and the route home from there.

Clubs and Activities are updated throughout the year. Below are potential clubs for the 2026 - 2027 school year. We are waiting for staff/parents to confirm that they are sponsoring each club. Details will be added as received. Clubs that are not continuing will be removed once that information is received. The club offerings are fluid and may not be the exact same from year to year.

Please note: For clubs that show Meeting Dates, those are confirmed clubs that are happening, and the information has been received from the sponsor(s).

For clubs that have a cost associated with them, financial assistance is available.

If you or your child would like to sponsor a club, please reach out to Mr. Ott at jason.ott@lcps.org

Once you have identified a club that you are interested in, click on the name in the Table of Contents to find the details for the club. The activities are listed in alphabetical order. There are limits to some of the clubs. When a club reaches capacity, we will not be able to have additional students join.

Teacher-Led Clubs

The link below is for teacher-led clubs. The Google form needs to be completed for each club that a student is participating in. If you do not see the club listed, then it is not led by staff. Those clubs will have a separate Google form.

NOTE: Completion of the Google form does NOT mean that your child has been accepted into the club. Many of the clubs have limitations on the number of participants. Those details will be shared at the interest meeting. If you have a question about whether your child is in a specific club or not, please email the Contact listed under each club directly.

NOTE: The link below will go live on Monday, 08/24 or Tuesday, 08/25. On the Google Form, the clubs that teachers/parent sponsors have confirmed are available in the drop-down list.

After School Bus Stops After School Bus Stops

Consolidated Bus Stops 2026-2027

There are two buses for after-school activities. They are numbers 292 and 2345. Please look on this bus stops doc, find your typical bus, and look to the right of your typical stop to see which after-school bus serves that stop. The bus stops are listed in the link below. Please identify your child's normal bus number and their normal bus stop. Next to each of the normal stops is a number in red for Bus 292 or green for 2345. That is the bus that your child will ride home. Once you have that, identify the closest bus stop on the route linked below.

Further Details

We’re kicking off another exciting season of Debate at BWHS, and we’d love to extend a warm invitation to middle school students who are interested in joining us. Whether they’re curious about public speaking, passionate about current events, or simply eager to challenge themselves, our team offers a supportive and engaging environment to grow their skills.

**Please note: Transportation to and from Briar is NOT provided. Parents/Guardians will need to provide transportation for their child.

Open to

7th and 8th grade students

Interest Meeting

***UPDATED DATE***

Monday, August 31st

from 4:30 to 5:30 pm @ Briar Woods High School Auditorium

**Parents are encouraged to attend the interest meeting, as participation in Debate and Speech requires a significant commitment from both students and families.

Some important expectations include:

  • A $100 participation fee
  • Mandatory Wednesday practices from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at BWHS
  • Participation in all-day Saturday tournaments throughout the school year (at least 2 tournaments in the school year to stay in the team)

  • A requirement for each family to volunteer as a judge at least once during the season

Our goal is to ensure that both students and parents fully understand the expectations and commitment involved before joining the team.

We also want families to understand that Debate is a student-led activity, not a public speaking class. Instruction and mentoring are primarily provided by our experienced 11th- and 12th-grade team members, who serve as officers and leaders. While we provide a separate classroom environment for middle school students during practices, they compete alongside high school students at tournaments.

Please find the following resources below:

  • BWHS Debate & Speech Team Website

  • Interest Form

  • Student Contract
  • Informational Flyer

Team officers will follow up with interested students and families to provide additional information about each debate event and team structure.

Membership fees can be paid online through SchoolCash Online (link will be shared after the interest meeting) or by submitting a check made payable to BWHS after attending the Interest Meeting.

Further Details

Get ready for the United States Academic Pentathlon (USAP), a nationwide academic challenge where middle school students take on five subjects: Math, Literature, Science, History, and Fine Arts. USAP isn’t just about studying; it’s about competing, collaborating, and pushing yourself to new heights. You’ll train with teammates, master new skills, and step into live competitions for medals, rankings, and memories that last.

Plus, we’re leveling up the experience with escape room days, arcade nights, and more - along with the possibility of traveling to Orlando, Florida for Nationals if enough students are ready to go all‑in.

Come to our interest meeting on Friday, September 11th, from 6-7 pm at the Eagle Ridge auditorium. Make sure to fill out the interest form (https://forms.gle/mBscSS6AfAnQx6ct7) to receive email updates & meeting links and explore usad.org/pentathlon for more details.
