Note from the Principal

My note this week is short and sweet. There's been a lot of learning this week. Students in nearly every grade are engaging, or about to engage in, lessons about community and governing through our ELA curriculum. As one of the few people in the building who gets to see what is happening at every grade, I can share it's exciting to see how this curriculum builds across the grade levels.

Help Speed Up Lunch Service

We heard from many families through our survey that lunch time and time in the lunch line is a concern. Most students have plenty of time to eat most days, but we could help them have more time, more often with your help.

Be a part of our solution, and have some fun with kids at the same time. Our amazing kitchen manager, Ms. Jacquelyn is going as fast as she can each day. She's hustling to prep and plate meals, and check out kids at the register - yes, even with free lunch we keep track of who is participating with the meal program. On the days when we've had a helper in the kitchen, the line moves twice as fast. We're actively recruiting volunteers to help. If you're interested in helping us get kids through the line faster, let us know. It's quite fun and a great way to get to know more of our amazing kids.

To help in our kitchen you do need a current food handler's card and to be an approved volunteer. It's a convenient online class that costs 10 dollars. Fall Fest Planners & Volunteers Needed!

Each grade level (PK-5th) will have their very own station at the Fall Fest with a variety of snacks, activities, and games - think popcorn stand, fall crafts, face painting, etc. We are looking for Team Planners and Volunteers to help on the day. Ideas should be submitted asap to social@bfdayptsa.org or you can sign up here! Thank you for helping create a fun and memorable event!
