The music programs are so excited to be putting on our winter concerts! A reminder that all concerts begin at 7 p.m. (students are expected to arrive sooner).

• 5th Grade Band: 5:45 p.m
• Junior High Choir and 6th Grade Band: 6 p.m.
• 7th-8th Grade Band: 6:15 p.m.

December 12th: PHS Choir, Concert Band, and Jazz Band will be playing some Christmas classics!

Arrival Times:

• High School Choir: 6 p.m.
• High School Band: 6:15 p.m.

This Saturday, December 14th, the Choir and Band will perform at Christmas in the Village!

At 10 a.m., the 7th-8th Grade Band, PHS High School Band, and PHS Jazz Band will play at the PTO breakfast at PHS Commons. The event is voluntary for 7th-8th graders and mandatory for High School students, who should arrive by 9:30 a.m.

The PHS Choir will also perform festive carols and songs from their concert. They will sing at Game On from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and at the Peotone American Legion from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m.

2. Thank you to the students who came out for the Peotone Tree Lighting Ceremony last Saturday! It was a nice opportunity to provide an important musical touch to this special annual community event. This picture was taken right after the tree was lit. We even had a PHS alum join in with us on our songs (thank you, Travis!)

3. PHS choir sings at Christmas in the Village next Saturday! PHS Choir needs to arrive at 3:30pm at Game On. Festive attire (hats are a plus!). We will sing at Game On then jump across the street to sing at the Legion at 4:15pm for a half hour. This event is mandatory for the PHS Choir! We will sing carols and some of our concert music.

Sectionals have been going great! Check out the video below that highlights one of our percussion sectionals with the 6-8th grade (Sorry that some of the video gets cut off because of the stand we were using). In this lesson, we were learning basic technique for drum set, bongos, cowbell, and claves. Hope you enjoy!

A reminder that band calendar dates have been sent home and are posted below if you need a copy.

Anything with TBD means you will receive and update on that information as soon as I have it available.

In order to make sure that both band and choir performances run smoothly, we are asking families to fill out a conflict form (the button below) if a student is not able to be there. This is to be filled out at least 2 weeks in advance before the date of conflict. This form will be posted on the newsletter and shortly is available on both band and choir student's Google Classroom pages.

Performances are grades and the expectation is for you to be there. If you are unable to go to an event, there will be a makeup assignment that will need to be completed. Usually situations of work or family events do not qualify as reasons for not going. Once completing the form, please alert Mr. Kowalski or Ms. Marshall about the submission so we can review it.

All assignments can be found in multiple places including:

• PowerSchool
• Google Classroom (if it is an outside of class assignment)
• The calendar in the band room
