Pocomoke High School Involver
April 2026
A message from Dr. Rayne
Dear Warrior Community,
As we enter the final quarter of the 2025–2026 school year, we are excited to support all students in finishing Quarter 3 strong. We encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns regarding their progress. Our administrators and school counselors are also available to partner with you to ensure the best possible educational experience for your child. Open and consistent communication with teachers, counselors, and administration plays a vital role in student success. Report cards will be issued on Friday, April 10, and we want each student’s grades to reflect their learning and growth.
Please continue to monitor your child’s academic progress and attendance. Encourage them to arrive on time each day—students must be in class by 7:55 AM—and to remain focused and engaged in their learning. The daily “Your Game Plan” time (10:51–10:57 AM) provides an excellent opportunity for students to reflect on their progress and set meaningful academic goals. During this time, students are encouraged to select Your60 offerings that support improvement or enrichment. As a reminder, students may not exceed five unexcused absences per semester or 17 total absences (excused or unexcused) per school year. If your child needs additional support, please contact us to develop an individualized academic or attendance plan. With the right support and encouragement, every student can succeed.
We are looking forward to celebrating our students at the Junior/Senior Prom and Grand March on Saturday, April 25. Grand March will begin at 6:00 PM, and tickets will be available at the door for $5. Be sure to review details about Prom and more upcoming spring events in The Involver and mark your calendars. Our website, pocomokehighschool.org, is also a valuable resource for school news, events, and updates—please consider bookmarking it for easy access.
On Thursday, May 14, we will host our annual WeXL Scholastic Recognition Banquet at Pocomoke High School to honor students who have demonstrated academic excellence. Invitations will be extended following Quarter 3 report cards. If your child is invited, we strongly encourage your attendance as we celebrate the dedication and achievements of our students, families, and staff. It promises to be a wonderful evening—I look forward to seeing many of you there.
With graduation less than two months away, our seniors are actively preparing for their next steps. As of the end of March, more than 60 scholarships are available, many with deadlines approaching on April 1. Each year, scholarship funds go unused—students must apply to take advantage of these opportunities. Our counseling office is available to assist students with applications during Your60 and after school. Additionally, a special scholarship writing session will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 1. Please contact Ms. Creese for more information.
While this is a busy time of year, it is also filled with well-earned celebrations of our students’ hard work and accomplishments.
With gratitude and partnership,
Dr. Jenifer Rayne
Principal, Pocomoke High School
SAFETY ITEMS
See Something, Say Something
The safety of our school depends on all of us. If you notice something unusual, concerning, or unsafe, please report it right away to a teacher, administrator, or staff member. Speaking up helps keep our school community safe.
Secure Entry Reminder
For everyone’s safety, please do not open doors for anyone at any time. All visitors and students must use the main entrance, ring the bell, and check in with the front office.
Exterior Doors
For safety, exterior doors must remain closed and locked at all times. They should never be propped open or left unlocked for any reason.
Morning Student Drop-Off
All student drop-offs should take place on the side of the building at the student parking lot/cafeteria entrance.
Check out our new signs! 🛑 Please help everyone stay safe during student drop-off! 🚌 🚗
ATTENDANCE
Showing up to school on time and every day is extremely important. Chronic absenteeism is missing at least 10% of school days (about 18 days a year), whether excused or unexcused. Frequent absences negatively impact academic success, weaken student engagement, relationships with peers, and connections with caring adults. Staff will continue to reach out to students and families regarding truancy and/or attendance concerns. Partnership is key to student success.
Attendance is the gateway to success. Every day a student shows up to school, they increase their chances of achieving academic growth, building meaningful relationships, and reaching their long-term goals. By simply being present, students actively reduce the negative effects of chronic absenteeism and set themselves up for a successful future. We have a little competition going on between all grades. At the end of semester 2, the class with the lowest chronic absentee percentage will win a fun filled field day and tribe points. Showing up each day lessens the chronic absenteeism rate, so it’s not too late for any grade to take the win.

After-School Academy Academic Focus (Session 3)
This session, we will continue to strengthen our focus on academic achievement by beginning each club meeting with a grade check-in. Students are encouraged to review their academic progress and complete mastery assignments if their grade fell below 70%. In addition, targeted math tutoring offered on Tuesdays provided additional academic support for students in need.
Session 3 of Driver’s Education ended on Monday 3-30. 82 students enrolled in driving school at PHS during the 25-26 School year! Each student received a scholarship that covered 95% of the cost of driving school!
Session 3 offerings will include a two week academic tutoring session in preparation for the MCAP test in May. We extend our sincere appreciation to our dedicated club leaders for providing high-quality instruction and support to students participating in ASA clubs.

Blue & Gold
On March 20th Blue and Gold hosted a "It's Time to Glow Up" pep rally! Winter athletes were celebrated for their many individual and collective records and achievements. Our cheerleaders had an AMAZING performance with high energy and stunts. Students were able to compete in challenges with their peers...even turning each other into snowmen. Best of all our warriors were able to dance and just enjoy themselves. We hope their excitement will continue into their classrooms while learning and into their Spring sports!
ASVAB Testing for 11th & Selected 12th Grade Students
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) will be administered on April 16th to all 11th-grade students and selected 12th-grade students. The ASVAB helps students explore potential career paths by assessing their strengths and abilities in areas such as mathematics, science, and verbal skills. It is an excellent tool for students considering future career options, including those in the military, but is also helpful for those exploring civilian career paths.
12th-grade students interested in participating who were not selected can reach out to Mrs. Lines to inquire about inclusion.
To prepare for the test, students can visit the official ASVAB website for practice tests and resources: www.asvabprogram.com
