May 29, 2025

Hello Barrington Families;

It is a time for reflection and celebration! It has been such a rewarding school year although in the wake of some challenging funding and enrollment changes and decisions. We are adjusting to the revenue shift as a result of Education Freedom Accounts and are awaiting the outcome of the Open Enrollment bill as well as actual grant allocations for the 2025/2026 school year. Please note that at this time, if the Open Enrollment bill were to be adopted as currently written, all families will still be required to prove residency per the District policy in which they live. This will establish a student’s residency in the state of NH and will also indicate the District of financial responsibility should a family seek enrollment in another school district per Open Enrollment. Additionally, the current enactment date on this bill is January 1st 2026. This means that your children will continue to have access to a free and appropriate public education in the town in which they reside from now through December 31, 2025 and into the future if you choose.

And now for some celebrations!

At the May 6th School Board meeting several staff members, families and community members gathered to acknowledge this year’s winners of the Champions for Children Award as well as the Educational Excellence Awards given out by the Barrington School Foundation.

We are so excited to share that Ms. Karly Wilcox and Ms. Tracy Ramsey are the recipients of the 2025 Champions for Children Award for their commitment to and creativity with outdoor learning. Thank you Ms. Wilcox and Ms. Ramsey.

Portrait of a Learner video

And now for our long awaited Portrait of a Learner video. This production (created with all Barrington students including the narration) is one more step on our Portrait of a Learner journey. The staff has spent time this school year defining and writing a rubric for the characteristic Communication. We will continue to work toward a full rubric with all characteristics defined. Drum roll please……………….

Grad Walk

We will be welcoming our high school graduates for a Grad Walk on Tuesday, June 10th at 12:20pm. This fun, impactful event will begin at BMS at 12:30 and then the graduates will be bussed over to BES to strut their stuff for the elementary students. This is meant to be an event for students. We can’t wait to see our Barrington seniors in their school colors!

Our 8th Graders will be recognized on Tuesday, June 17th at 6pm on the Middle School soccer field (weather permitting of course). Further details for this event will come directly from the Middle School. The families of 8th graders may choose to send their children to school on June 18 however, please know that this is your choice and there will be no penalty for not returning after the Celebration Night given that we will have exceeded the state instructional hour requirement.

The (tentative) last day of school will be a half day on Wednesday, June 18th.

  • Half day dismissal times:

    • BMS: 11:30am

    • ECLC: 12:15pm

    • BES: 12:25pm

  • For future planning, here is the approved 2025/2026 School District Calendar .

Hello Barrington Families,

For those who utilize Google accounts for personal, work or school. There are some important security features built in that everyone should take advantage of. Here within the Barrington School District we are requiring all teachers and staff to turn on 2-Step Verification. Below are the key settings that anyone using a Google account should activate.

Essential Google Security Settings

In today's interconnected world, your Google account is often the central hub of your digital life – from email and photos to documents and financial information. Protecting it is paramount! Fortunately, Google provides robust security features that are easy to set up and maintain. Here’s a quick guide to boost your Google security:

1. The Power of Two: Enable 2-Step Verification (2SV)

This is the single most effective step you can take. With 2SV enabled, even if a hacker gets your password, they can't access your account without a second verification step – typically a code sent to your phone or a prompt on a trusted device.

  • How to do it: Go to your Google Account > Security > 2-Step Verification. Follow the prompts to set up your preferred method (passkey, authenticator app or security keys).

2. Conduct a Regular Security Checkup

Think of this as a digital tune-up. Google's Security Checkup tool guides you through critical security settings, identifying potential vulnerabilities and suggesting improvements. It takes just a few minutes!

  • How to do it: Visit your Google Account > Security > Security Checkup. Review connected devices, third-party app access, and recent security events.

3. Strong, Unique Passwords Are Your First Line of Defense

While 2SV is crucial, a strong, unique password for your Google account is still foundational. Avoid using easily guessable information (birthdates, pet names) and never reuse passwords across different sites. Consider using a password manager to generate and store complex passwords or better yet create a Passkey.

  • How to do it: Go to your Google Account > Security > Password.

4. Review Third-Party App Access

You'd be surprised how many apps and services you've granted access to your Google account over time. Regularly review these connections and revoke access for anything you no longer use or don't recognize. This prevents potential data breaches through less secure third-party services.

  • How to do it: Navigate to your Google Account > Security > Third-party apps with account access.

5. Keep Your Recovery Information Up-to-Date

Ensure your recovery phone number and email address are current. If you ever get locked out of your account, this information is vital for regaining access.

  • How to do it: Find this under your Google Account > Personal info > Contact info.

Taking a few moments to implement these simple steps can significantly enhance your Google account's security, giving you greater peace of mind in our increasingly digital world. Stay safe online!

Facilities Facilities

Hello Barrington Families,

The Facilities Department has been hoping for some warmer weather. the pattern that we are currently in has not been very inviting. The Facilities Department has been lining and mowing the fields in between rain drops. Spring sports being underway.

Flower beds have been mulched with the new spring bloom, everything is coming in nicely. We have maintained all of the summer equipment and got all of the winter equipment winterized and in storage.

School will be getting ready for graduation, and then we will be moving into the summer planning for the district.

Best,
