GMS Family,

🍂 Happy Thanksgiving from GMS! 🍂

As we gather with loved ones to celebrate Thanksgiving, the GMS staff wants to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to you, our incredible families.

Your daily support, encouragement, and involvement in your children’s education make GMS more than just a school—it’s a community. From cheering on our students at events, to partnering with us in their academic journey, your commitment makes all the difference.

GMS is a special place because of the sense of togetherness we share. Whether it's in the classroom, on the field, or during school events, our strength lies in the way we come together as one big family, supporting one another through every challenge and celebrating each success.

This Thanksgiving, we are thankful for the trust you place in us to educate and care for your children. They inspire us every day to do our best.

We wish you a joyous and peaceful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with those who matter most.

Sincerely,

GMS Admin Team

Canned Food Drive Tuesday Nov. 26th Canned Food Drive Tuesday Nov. 26th

Look in next week's Family Newsletter for more information. During the day on Tuesday, we will let students place their canned food for their favorite team, Greene or White, as their voluntary admission for the Pep Rally. This is not required for students to enter the Pep Rally, but a fun way to help out our community this holiday season.

In September, Hurricane Helene devastated East TN and severely impacted the community. Hampton High School was forced to relocate as the flooding damaged the school's campus — both the grounds and the building. HHS is now displaced and conducting classes at Keenburg Elementary School. This is a challenge for both teachers & students. Teachers are doing their best to support students, many of whom have also faced significant losses, but they need our help to restore classroom resources and create a stable learning environment. Greeneville Middle School is collecting donations to help teachers at Hampton High School with supplies, materials, and other essentials to support our students' educational journey in these challenging times. Every bit helps—please consider contributing to help their school community rebuild and move forward stronger than ever

Turkey Trot Time! Turkey Trot Time!

The GCSEF 10th Annual Turkey Trot 5K is set for Thanksgiving morning at 8am at GHS. We need your help sharing information about the event and encouraging participation! I have attached a flyer, registration form, and course map for the event. I have also included links to online registration, the Facebook event page, and a recent tweet.

Early registration ends on 11.12.24 and you must be registered by then to be guaranteed a race day shirt. The school with the highest percentage of participants will receive a $500 cash prize. If you have families that would like to volunteer for the event rather than run/walk, we would love to have them, and your school will receive participation credit for volunteers as well.

If you would like me to deliver printed flyers, forms, or yard signs to your school, please let me know. I will be happy to do so!

We are truly appreciative of anything you can do to help encourage participation.

GMS Staff Shout Outs GMS Staff Shout Outs

Check out how GMS staff make GMS a great place for students!

Donita Huff

I would like to praise this staff member because she assigned a project requiring students to interview an older person outside of school. She also needed students to complete a study guide. She had two days to give students to work on the project then the study guide she thought that some students, including me, would not have time to interview their chosen person until the weekend; so she let us pick which one we wanted to work on each day. It is commendable that Mrs. Huff exhibited thoughtful teaching practices by offering flexibility in how students could manage their assignments. By recognizing that some students might need more time to complete the interview portion of this project, over the weekend, she effectively accommodated to differing schedules and ensured that all students had the opportunity to meet the deadlines. This thoughtful approach aligns with the principle of beginning with the end in mind, as she proactively considered the potential barriers to completing the work and offered a solution that supported her students success.

Ms.Young

Putting First Things First

I would like to give ms.young a shout out because i love the way she takes pride in her work and making sure everyone of us understand the lesson and she takes time out of her day to explain thing to us to where we can understand it personally and she also creates very fun ways and experiments to show us real life examples of how the things we learn impact our daily life.

Teresa Gibson

Synergizing

Teresa jumps into the fray to help out everyone. She ensures that I have what I need to be as successful in my job as I can be. Teresa purchases materials on her own and is very creative. She has excellent organizational skills and is a quick study when learning new skills. Her heart is for our students first, but then for the teachers with whom she works. She volunteers to sub in classes to make meetings seamless and she voluntarily supports the kids at their sporting events and concerts. <3

Mrs.Hansard

Seeking First to Understand, then to be Understood

She always puts students first and makes sure her class is always able to learn in every way, kinesthetic, visual, auditory, and interpersonal. Also makes sure everyone of different personality's and languages are able to understand and do the projects.
