Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Welcome to November! As we settle into the rhythm of the school year, I want to take a moment to share a couple of important updates.
Morning Arrival & Making Every Minute Count
To give our students the best start to their school day, we strongly encourage families to aim for arrival between 8:00 AM and 8:15 AM. While students are not officially marked tardy until after 8:20, morning instruction begins promptly at 8:20 AM. Arriving a few minutes before 8:15 AM gives students time to unpack, settle into their classrooms, and transition into the school day without feeling rushed. Starting the day calmly helps set a positive tone for all the learning that follows!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for us to partner with you in supporting your child’s growth, celebrating their achievements, and identifying areas where we can work together to help them reach their full potential.
To help you get the most out of your conversation with your child’s teacher, here are a few questions you might consider asking:
Academic Progress: "What is one area where my child is excelling, and what is one skill we should focus on strengthening at home?"
Classroom Engagement: "How does my child participate during lessons and handle challenges or tricky tasks?"
Social-Emotional Growth: "How does my child interact with peers, work in groups, and follow classroom routines?"
Home-School Connection: "What is the most impactful thing I can do at home each day to support what they are learning in class?"
We look forward to connecting with you soon! Thank you for your continued partnership and support in making our school a wonderful place to learn and grow.
Warm regards,
Stephanie Scherer

Speak With Good Purpose
Our next monthly focus is all about positive communication!
When we live the Key of Speak With Good Purpose, we use our words to build people up, speak honestly, and share kindness. We learn that our words have power, and using them positively helps make our school and homes safe, supportive places for everyone.
To live this Key successfully, we may need to change how we think about the way we talk to and about others. Rather than letting unkind, hurtful, or careless words slip out, we choose to think before we speak. When we pause and ask ourselves if our words are true, kind, and helpful, we are on the path to building strong, positive relationships.
We may sometimes feel tempted to gossip, speak behind someone’s back, or use harsh words when we are frustrated. Letting negative communication become a habit does nothing but create misunderstandings and hurt feelings.
The best way to Speak With Good Purpose is to make sure our words match our good intentions. The key to success is to always use our voices to encourage others, solve problems peacefully, and spread positivity wherever we go!
Breakfast and Lunch Menus
Our 16 Days of Kindness Campaign!
We are excited to kick off our 16 Days of Kindness campaign running from October 30 through November 20! Over the next three weeks, our students and staff will focus on building a stronger, more supportive community by putting kindness into action every day.
Throughout the campaign, students will pledge to be encouraging, respectful, and helpful. They will take on daily kindness challenges such as doing good deeds and writing thank you notes to teachers, bus drivers, and staff, to simple everyday acts like sharing a smile, picking up litter, and reaching out to old friends.
To celebrate all our hard work and community spirit, we will culminate the campaign with a Kindness Spirit Week during the week leading up to fall break! Please see the attached flyer for the spirit week themes each day.
Veterans Day Breakfast
Glenside Middle School will be hosting the Queen Bee District 16 Annual Veterans Day Breakfast. This event is on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The event will start at 7:30 a.m. Please RSVP for this event. Please see the flyer below for information regarding the event.
Winter Weather
As the weather begins to get colder, please send your student to school with a coat, hat, gloves, etc. If there is snow, students should also have snow gear such as boots and snow pants to enjoy the snow during recess. We will go outside unless the Real Feel temperature is below 19 degrees.
