Our third week of school brought field trips for all!! Students had a blast off-site and learned a lot! See some pictures below!

Please join us for Curriculum Night on Thursday! Teachers will be stationed in the hallway with several works to showcase from their classroom. All family members are welcome to attend.

Please remind caregivers to adhere to our car line procedures. We're still seeing grandparents or others who pick up exiting their car in the car line. This completely stops the traffic flow and creates a safety concern for our students. If you need to help your child enter or exit the car, please park and walk up to the awning. Thank you for following our safety procedures.

Keep an eye out for district communication about fall screening test scores.

Here's what you should expect:

1st-8th grade Star math scores will come Monday

6th-8th grade Star reading scores will come Monday

2nd-5th grade literacy data from Aimsweb will come Monday

JK, SK, and 1st grade literacy data will come from Aimsweb on Thursday

NCI Permission Slips

Upper Elementary Parents - please return NCI permission slips by Friday, September 26th. If you have questions before deciding if your child will attend, you can attend Tuesday's virtual parent meeting at 7:30pm or you can ask at Curriculum Night!

Bucket Brigade with Mrs. Burke

Upper Elementary students are participating in a bucket drumming / "Depot Drumming" experience to kick off the school year! During this curriculum, students will build a musical vocabulary of rhythm, dynamics, tempos, and styles of performance. Students have already received opportunities to solo and improvise 8 bar phrases, alternating solo (alone) and tutti (whole ensemble) sections in which we perform a rhumba pattern. Thank you to the Wauwatosa Home Depot on 124th street for donating 30 buckets to our program, and to Erin Myers for kindly donating enough rhythm sticks to complete a classroom set of 30!

Jennifer Burke is excited to be working with all students as the new General Music teacher at Wauwatosa Montessori! Jennifer comes to our program with a BS Degree in Music Education, and a MM in Flute Performance and Chamber Music. Jennifer regularly performs with Wisconsin-area orchestras such as the Kettle Moraine Symphony and the Wisconsin Philharmonic, and is a founding member of the Microcosm Ensemble and Black Cat Ensemble.

Classroom Helpers (Room Parents) still needed for Mrs. D (CH) & Ms. Dawson (AP)

Help support our classroom teachers and students by volunteering as a classroom helper! Classroom Helpers take on a variety of roles: coordinating classroom celebrations and gifts, organizing parent volunteers, and lending a hand when they can in the classroom or on field trip. We had some special guests in the building this week! Mrs. A partnered with J.K. Lee to do a lesson on taekwondo in PE classes on Thursday and Friday! They are extending an after school opportunity to our students right at our school!

Fresh Hot Popcorn every Tuesday

We will once again have the opportunity to order popcorn on Tuesdays. The price is $.75 per bag. Students order it on Tuesday morning and the Next Steps crew make the popcorn and deliver it same day. So yummy!

This week Children's House went to Barthel Fruit Farm, Lower Elementary went to the West Planeterium, Upper Elementary went to the Urban Ecology Center - Mrs. Susan to Lake Michigan and Ms. Emily to Lapham Peak, and AP went canoing with the Urban Ecology Center!

Please take a moment to review this document explaining how to enter attendance into Infinite Campus. This is used for appts, sick, vac, etc. You can still call the attendance line but the new procedure is what the district would like you to use.

Mainly used for field trip payments.
